More about the restaurant: Grange Pub

Bermondsey’s Grange Road is suffused with the history of London, so it’s heartening to see evidence of sensitive rather than rampant redevelopment when it comes to the area’s many heritage pubs. Grange Pub, named for the ward and the famous Grange Road upon which it finds itself is one such charmer. The proprietors have taken on what they describe as a fallen star of a pub and brought it back to life – adding a few contemporary necessities (wood-fired pizza oven, burgers and international fare as well as British classics) – and creating a cosy atmosphere that’ll have you calling the Grange your home away from home.

Thinking about making a Grange Pub booking?

The menu at Grange Pub changes regularly, but you can rely on finding a wide variety of British classics rubbing shoulders with international dishes put together by head chef Lisa. Naturally, this sensitively refurbished Bermondsey boozer does a good Sunday roast and line-caught haddock and chips, but you can also get your sticky fingers on house burgers, European and international starters and mains, and pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven built out in the garden. The garden itself doubles as a gorgeous all-weather beer garden that’s ideal for sipping on a pint or one of the Grange’s wines when London lets the sun in.

Come the weekend, Grange Pub opens up its all-day menu for late breakfasts, lazy brunches and lunches, ranging from simple fodder like the house-made granola right through to refined surprises like the ratatouille and duck egg with grilled veggies and manchego cheese. Grange Pub takes dinner bookings seven nights a week, bookings for lunch on Fridays, and its flexible Grange Road premises are also sought after in Bermondsey as a venue for hosting large groups and private parties. Ultimately, the Grange is a fantastic example of a new breed of London pub – confidently marrying tradition and innovation.
