About River Spice
More about the restaurant: River Spice
Brighton may be more traditionally associated with the seafront than the river, but at the River Spice on Preston Street in the city centre, they’re trying to do something about that. River Spice is an Indian restaurant that is inspired by the regal traditions of the Mogul Empire, which ruled the north of the subcontinent for centuries and was famed for decadent cuisine and architecturally stunning palaces. They can’t recreate the Taj Mahal or the Golden Palace at Amritsar on the seafront in Brighton – think of the planning permission! – but they can bring a taste of the ancient empires to the south coast of England, through dishes such as naga chicken, cooked with fiery naga pickles, one of the hottest chillies around, and Mysore Chilli Prawn, served in a hot, sweet and sour sauce. Take a trip to Preston Road, just off the King’s Road and Regency Square, for a wholly different type of royal cuisine.
