Delicious food and excellent service. Great assistance for diner with allergies, good menu knowledge displayed.
The evening started well. A free glass of bubbles for the birthday girl thanks. That was the only positive. Service was very slow considering it was a quiet Monday night. Took a while to take the food order. Food came out in good time. Fillet steak looked rather small. 2 of the guest are gluten free so we asked for seafood linguini but with risotto instead of the pasta. No problem great I thought! Risotto rice was very over cooked to the point you couldn't recognise the grains of rice. Took a while before mains were cleared. Dessert was dealt with in a timely manner but after dessert was served it was like we were forgotten. I noticed the supervisor going for a break with a cup of tea. Our empty dessert plates must have sat for 20 minutes until we had to wave to get attention to get the bill. The bill was wrong with extras that we didn't have like olives. Now she needed to change the bill which meant a longer wait because the supervisor wasn't anywhere to be seen. Finally the bill came back. Your 12.5% optional service charge is added to the bill already so not really optional unless you know to ask to have it removed. This for me is wrong unless large groups. I paid with the service charge only because I had lost the will to live by now. We left with dirty desert plates still on the table it was neither late of busy. When we got to the car one of the girls couldn't find her phone. Yes she left it in the restaurant so back she came to get it. Amazingly it was still there on the table along with all the dirty dessert plates but no staff even noticed that they had re-entered into the restaurant to collect anything. So for almost £150.00 for 4 people I would not call it value for money or good service. Kind of spoilt the birthday mood as we left feeling a little disappointed. Thanks. Graham.
Absolutely flawless. The whole customer experience was brilliant. Reserved online, quick and easy. It was a birthday so entered into the comments that it was a birthday etc. When we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and asked our reservation name and the first thing the host said was happy birthday! Following that almost every member of staff wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and we each got a complimentary drink. Food was perfect, service was top notch, the whole experience was some of the best service I think I have ever had. I can not remember our waiters' name, but he was ultra attentive and super polite. As someone who works in marketing/customer experience, I am acutely aware of these things, and I must say this is the best end to end experience I have had on the 'high street' in a very long time. Bravo Cote Brasserie, best dinner out in Basingstoke and a huge thanks for a very special birthday evening.
Set in Festival Place near to some rather loud and garish establishments, it has a much quieter atmosphere and ambience, the colours tastefully muted with a range of table setting, some in quiet bays. As the doors close, its quietness envelopes diners as they are met by attentive staff; we were shown to our table quickly and, from then, the evening flowed along memorably as the staff looked after our every need (and some we had not thought of). There is a range of menus, from the set two-course to à la carte with a food choice of wines or beers. We had a lovely, pre-film meal, unhurried and watched over by an attentive staff who knew when attentive meant staying away. I am please its business and reputation are growing, both well deserved. Our first meal there with friends was thoroughly enjoyable, our last by ourselves was equally enjoyable and we will be back. Looking forward to our next visit says everything about a restaurant.
We were met at the door with a nice welcome, given a choice of tables. A waitress then approached, a very nice young lady. Vicky (not sure if that's how you spell it as she is Romanian). She took our drink order plus the two complimentary cocktails which were very nice. A few minutes later she came back and took our food order explaining a few things to us regarding the food we ordered which was nice. During our meal she came to us a couple of times asking if all was ok, we both said everything is fine but I did offer a suggestion; I had French onion soup which was very nice but with the big crouton in a small ball it wasn't easy to break it up with a spoon so I suggested a desert spoon/fork which she said she would feedback. Excellent food, wine and service, Thank you. See you again soon Tony
Basingstoke Cote only opened in December 18. It's a smart, comfortable and deceptively large restaurant offering the usual Cote menu. On my first visit there, service was prompt and helpful and both our starters and mains were very enjoyable. I'm always kept happy by a good choice of vegetarian options but if there is a vegan in your party then I would suggest contacting them in advance. Also, as with all Cote restaurants, if someone prefers beer to wine (as happened when I was there) then the choice is limited and expensive. The Basingstoke Cote is in Festival Place near the Vue Cinema so nearby parking is plentiful and easy. If I have any criticisms of one of a chain of restaurants I use frequently it's that I think the tables in Basingstoke are perhaps just a little too close to each other. But thankfully the town now has a proper brasserie at which to eat. Excellent.
Lovely place and atmosphere. Starter was tasty - had the Calamari. Sadly my main was a bit disappointing - had Pork tenderloins but one was very rare to point of bleeding. I do know you can have pork pink but not this pink! Had to send it back. This, in itself, wasn't a problem but everybody else had finished before another one was bought to me (but they did explain I would have to wait) it was more the fact that what they bought was also not right! It had gone to the other extreme of being overdone and chewy - looked like scragg ends. Sadly I had to send this back too when I chewed on gristle! However.. the staff that served us were nothing but polite. I felt embarrassed at having sent back two meals but they (the manager?) were so courteous. They were more concerned about me than the food which was so refreshing. Plus they were extremely generous with the bill! We have been on several occasions for breakfast and had lovely food and this won't put me off going back!
