Excellent setting, discrete service, beautiful presentation. And food that was sublime. I have never had duck cooked so well - it was so tender, so full of taste. Cannot wait to go again.
Beautifully petite restaurant with good range of choice on menu. Menu du jour reasonably priced with steak frites option with drink very good value. Service excellent for lunch though sadly not many people seem to know of it perhaps due to its position tucked away in St Margaret's with its tricky parking situation. Definitely worth seeking out and bus and train links rather than use of car preferable as former within two or three minute walk.
The calm efficiency and quality of Le Salon Prive is of a top West End restaurant - and the food did not disappoint. We're delighted to have such a top quality restaurant in easy reaching distance. Thanks to the all the staff for their efforts.
Very welcoming. Interesting old interior, well furnished and decorated. Good service, good food and well priced menu. Had an excellent bottle of cotes du rhone. Going back in 2 weeks. A good find and as a regular visitor to the area plan to use often.
The food was good although expensive for a starter of just two scallops, the octopus carpaccio was excellent. My husband's main course of brill was very good but I had to send back the lamb rump I had ordered as it it was tough and full of gristle and although they replaced it quickly it should never have left the kitchen in the first place. With most of the main courses you need to order side dishes at a an extra cost which makes it quite pricey. We chose a moderately priced white wine at £25 from their extensive list but when the bill arrived they had charged £26.50. I queried this not because £1.50 matters that much but because I always check restaurant bills carefully. It would seem that the wine prices had increased that day and although the prices had been updated on their till the winelists hadn't been. Unable to correct the wine price on our bill they then removed the service charge (automatically added) so we left a cash tip. In terms of ambiance the lighting is very poor in some areas making it difficult to read the menu or see what you're eating and some of the tables are very close together so one's conversation is not at all private! I don't think we'll rush back as there are so many alternatives in the area. ne from their very extensive windsor
Lovely, small, stylish restaurant in the quietly fashionable little town of St Margarets. Warm welcome, friendly staff, good food. We came for Sunday Brunch and enjoyed a relaxed meal after a pre drink of a cocktail and wine. Great effort seems to have been made here keep up with the previous eatery on this site, Brula. And with considerably more in the portion sizes than Brula ever offered. Not that it is inelegant on the plate, but now you don't feel hungry when you leave. Decent enough wine list, predominantly French and Italian, and very nice looking desserts to finish. We did not try these unfortunately as the main Sunday dish had left us more than satisfied. We will next time, though. We will be back and would definitely recommend. .... N.A.P.
Wonderful staff, atmosphere, amazing and fantastic menu. I always enjoy the surprise canapé provided too - absolutely delicious. The friendly staff makes the evening as they make you feel at ease, some small chats, gives you space as needed and always smile. The chef is amazing. All the dish has its unique flavours and melts in your mouth. Best oysters and escargots too for those that enjoy those delicacy! I also especially enjoy the specials - You get treated with lobster or truffles.... A must place to go for a lovely evening with your partner or friends. They even have a function room at the top floor. Emma &Peter
Thank you to all the staff at Le Salon Prive for such a wonderful meal for my dad's birthday. We had a private room at the back, the furnishings are absolutely beautiful, the service is so friendly and attentive, and the food was amazing! The sharing plates are actually fantastic value for money when you see how much food you get - either for two very hungry people or three not so hungry! The chateaubriand was beautiful, as was the baked vacherin. Couldn't fault a single part of the meal and will definitely return to this beautiful place!
Having had great experiences at the restaurant, I took 3 friends - one of them a food blogger, so I hesitate before I recommend a place - to the Tuesday steak night. As always, great food, great atmosphere, good house wine and the manager and maitre'd were as friendly as usual. Why it fails on 5 stars is they don't seem to be able to get the junior waiting staff training right (or do they do the training on Tuesday nights?) as this is the second time I have experienced this. The unforuntate soul was shy, couldn't answer our question about what the house wine was and then topped it all by nervously knocking my food blogger friend's glass of wine to the floor, as she served the food - and all over her brand new handbag. I know it's a stressful job waiting, but........
Our party of four attended the Vacherin evening on Wednesday 27th September. All the vacherin dishes were, naturally, excellent but the whole experience was enhanced by the evident desire of patrons Stefano and Gianluca and their staff to ensure that all the 'guests' had a really enjoyable time. Each wine accompanying the three courses was charmingly and expertly described by the sommelier, we were offered a second helping of the baked vacherin with its almond and truffle crust and the atmosphere created resembled a private dining experience. This restaurant is to be highly recommended.
The food is absolutely stunning, on a par with Michelin 3-stars in the UK and Italy (and yes, we've eaten in many of those!). The chef trained with Pierre Koffman (for those of you old enough to have heard of him -- La Tante Claire, Koffman's at the Berkeley), and it shows. Some very original dishes with ingredients that you might not think go together but magically they do, and that's the sign of a great chef to us. The service is attentive, very warm and friendly, particularly thanks to the Maitre D'.
Recently four of us had dinner on a Saturday evening for my daughter's birthday. I would rate the experience as excellent. We each had a starter; twice baked gruyere soufflé, escargots and duck foie gras; main courses were boeuf bourguingnon, rib eye steak and calf's sweetbreads and one dessert, chocolate fondant. All the dishes were superb with generous portions without being too much. The service, decor and ambience were also all you would wish it to be. I have recommended the restaurant to friends and will be returning myself very soon.
I love the starched tablecloths/napkins and the servers' aprons. I love the decor and ambiance and feel these aspects give it a very adult sophisticated dining experience now often quite difficult to find elsewhere at reasonable prices. This unique atmosphere would be lost if it became a ' famiiy friendly' restaurant esp in the evenings. We enjoyed our food and felt the portions were generous and well presented and the menu was varied and interesting. Definitely my favourite restaurant at present
We were regulars at the excellent Brula and this was our first visit to its successor. Food here is good, although perhaps not up to Brula's level of consistency and more ostentatiously presented. My barley risotto with an aubergine timbale was an odd combination but was full of flavour, whereas my wife's starter - prawn and avocado salad was fresh but decidedly underseasoned. Bread was up to Brula's standards though and the decor and atmosphere - always a bit severe before - are a noticeable improvement. Weill definitely go again.
Le Salon Prive has a very warm atmosphere and the ambience was perfect to celebrate a special birthday with friends. Our table was reserved for us prior to arrival and we were greeted by the most courteous staff, who were extremely attentive throughout the evening. The food was very rich, but of excellent quality. Although this was my first visit, I will definitely return, particularly if it is a special occasion.
The food was delicious and could not be faulted. As we were on an offer the menu was limited but I was pleased with my choice. The dessert menu was not to my liking but I was told an extra was available. It was a pear and almond tart with creme fraiche and raspberries. It was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had and I am a real dessert person making a lot myself. The wine was also very good. Would definitely return.
excellent service and excellent food; I was suffering from a very bad cold and had taken medication before arriving at the restaurant so think my behaviour must of seemed rather odd (we left in rather a hurry) I hope the restaurant did not think it a reflection on them, I was feeling pretty dreadful during the meal (alcohol and medication do not mix!) We will definitely go back....when feeling better.
Le Salon Privé has amazing food that is great value for money. I love this place. I've been here 4 times and I'd keep coming back. The setting is lovely too. Highly recommended! A+++++++++++++++
This restaurant is definitely fine dining at its best. Beautifully laid out ,decorated tastefully and very welcoming. each member of staff were very professional and gave advice when asked. The menu had a lot of interesting choices ,PERFECTLY COOKED beautifully presented and very tasty we would and have recommend it to anyone who appreciates good taste in everything. compliments to chef and staff.
Fabulous food, excellent service! We enjoyed our evening at Le Salon Privé very much indeed. We had a friendly welcome, attentive—but not obtrusive—service, great food and wine, and a lovely time!
Incredible - a truly special lunch! To be honest we couldn't believe the place does not have a Michelin star. In lots of ways we hope it wont get one as we shall probably never be able to book a table again...purely selfish we know. But really, the quality of the food is superb and it has a very Parisian ambiance.
I have visited Le Salon Prive several times, but I thought the menu today was particularly excellent - I had fish as a starter and as a main course and it was superbly cooked for both courses. The cherry tart dessert was gorgeous with beautiful whole cherries and the cheese too was fresh and as perfect as it can be!
I've always liked this restaurant and rate it the best in St Margarets / Teickenham area where I've lived for 15yrs. The food is excellent accompanied by a quality wine list. Beautiful white table cloths and Smart French bistro decor create a relaxed yet special ambiance and the service is attentive but not over the top
Excellent restaurant. The service was superb and the waitresses very attentive. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and the ambience. My only complaint would be with Quandoo who registered my booking as Will William, when clearly that is not my name and they had my correct e-mail address showing correct name!! Epic Fail Quandoo.
Excellent dinner. We had a small room adjacent to the larger diningroom, the staff was very friendly and the food was of high standard. The wine was of very good quality. Overall a good value for money. I can only recommend the Salon Privee. A cosy place for having a Birthday Dinner.
Extremely good service, very attentive. We had the set prix fixee which was incredible value at £16 for two courses. Food delicious as usual. You have to be there between 6pm and 7pm for the set meal but that suited us. The restaurant was still busy that early.
Was our first time there , we choose Christmas Day . Unfortunately the service was not attentive , the food was good perhaps we give it another try when they are not stressed out from Christmas . The place inside is so lovely and menue looks lovely too we had the Christmas Turkey was good but not different to what other restaurants could offer , perhaps they should offer Roast Goose !!!!
We had the fixed price menu and must say we were very impressed with the food and service at this restaurant. The choices for each course were well thought out and the cost was very reasonable We Shall certainly come back to try the a la carte.
We had a lovely meal to celebrate our anniversary. Delicious chateaubriand. Starter slightly hard to eat with long strands a of asparagus and endive in a small bowl with a very large rim and wish they'd had a chocolate gluten free pudding to make the evening perfect, but still loved it and we'll definitely be back.
We enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch and generally the food was good. However we were surprised that the Yorkshire pudding served with roast beef was charred and had to be returned to the kitchen from which it should never have been allowed to leave. Also it was surprising that two of the modest priced red wines on the list were not available. Service was good and the ambiance relaxing.
My wife and I have eaten at Salon Prive a couple of times for dinner and both times found the food was delicious, the ingredients were fresh with a nice presentation. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to try their brunch.
This is a great restaurant - we had been here several years previously when it was under the previous management. It has definitely upgraded itself on hospitality. Went in a party of four - small intimate atmosphere. Excellent attentive staff. Food was great too.
The music was awful - some sort of Kenny G-style "jazz" was playing. My steak was overcooked (I asked for medium-rare and got medium-well), but I was hungry so I didn't ask them to take it back. Our neighboring diner had his dish taken back to the kitchen, so I think the chef was having a bad evening. The service was pleasant enough.
Lovely, local good quality restaurant - enjoyed the food and the friendly service, and it was reasonably priced. Surprisingly quiet on a Thursday night (only 4 of 15 tables or so seemed occupied) and so a little formal in atmosphere, but perfect for a birthday dinnerfor my wife & I.
Christmas Day lunch was excellent. Superbe food and personal service we left feeling cherished and delighted.there were 5 of us and those choosing traditional fare turkey etc were as happy as those who had something different. Delicious would thoroughly recommend it.
Le Salon Privee was an excellent choice for our lunch. The fixed lunch menu has several dishes to choose from. The hereford rump was an excellent choice perfectly cooked and the passion fruit sorbet was divine. I would certainly go again.
Attractive main dining room with beautiful stained glass front window. Good classic French food, we were there for the good value Bastille Day dinner - delicious lobster bisque to start, good chicken main then fab strawberry tart. Lovely friendly service, feels like being in a private home
Traditional French in a relaxed atmosphere. Beautifully prepared and served by friendly yet discreet staff. I am trying hard to fault La Salon Privée - perhaps the superheated water supplied in the washrooms could do with a cautionary notice!
Wonderful food and service in a very lovely building. The portions were a perfect size and it was not pretentious or overpriced. Our guests were most impressed and will visit again as they are more local than us.
Very good meal last night 27 Th (vacherin dinner) the Oslo bucco was excellent and the cheese was special, and good choice of wines to complement the food and as usual the service up to the usual standard .
Very good food and service. Very good value for money. Children are welcome. A extensive wine list with diverse prices. A very good experience all around, we will come back and recommend. Thank you to all the staff.
If you want simple, respected fine dining without the WestEnd - This is it Food perfect, service unobtrusive. Great wine selection and the added canapes a very nice touch. Try it, if even for their pre-fix menu
We had a very nice evening. The food was really good but the noise in the restaurant a bit too loud. Better sound absorption and some ambient music would make the evening more relaxing and enjoyable. The service was good but a bit dis-coordinated. A good option but we may not go again.
Steak Night rib eye steaks were really delicious, perfectly cooked to order and good value with the wine. Ambience very elegant. However service was slow, despite 3 staff in the dining room only 1 appeared to be allowed to take food and wine orders which really slowed things down. Will definitely be returning.
The service was excellent, not too rushed and no 'is everything alright with your food' every five minutes. General ambiance lovely and food very good quality. Wine list appropriate and priced well. Location (2 minutes from station) fine. We will go back.
Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, waitress didn't speak much English so it was difficult to ask for recommendations or enquire about dishes etc but she was lovely and did her best. It was a lovey evening!
Good value Sunday lunch in pleasant environment. 3 courses, wine coffee and service for two £96. Service reasonable for a small restaurant and helpful manager. Has improved over the last two years as they have honed their offering to local customers.
Absolutely first class service. The food was superb! We sat in the slightly private section to the right as you come in the main entrance. Wonderful for 6 people. Can't recommend this place enough.
Fantastic food and service. We would definitely return again. An absolute gem to be found in st Margaret's. We hope it doesn't get found by the masses and continues to be a secret destination!!
Excellent food,Excellent service,In fact it is all very special the oysters are always so fresh, the Veal sweetbread are always cooked to perfection and on Sunday the Roast Beef Rib is the Best Ever. RWS.😃😃👍👍
