    Where to head?

So, as you’d expect, many of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Hong Kong are nestled around the Central district. One of the best in Central is Moi Moi, which has been changing the face of Southeast Asian cuisine with its innovative menus brimming with green tea-smoked duck rice paper rolls, phở with raw wagyu beef and the favourite, caramelised Kurobuta pork belly with a 63 degree egg, braised in young coconut water. Or, head to Viet Kitchen for a fun and edgy affair, where the Saigon beef phở and crabbed fried rice will have you in food heaven. Another excellent Hong Kong district for Vietnamese restaurants is of course, Tsim Sha Tsui. Here, you’ll find Golden Bull French Vietnamese Cuisine serving up an interesting fusion that works in all the right ways. Try the whole baked pineapple stuffed with rice and mixed seafood, braised beef tenderloin or baked curry crab for a perfect blend of European and Asian flavours. Or for a classic dish, Phở Hoi An at TST Square serves an exceptional grouper noodle soup and stir-fried chicken cooked with lemongrass, fish sauce and loads of chilli. You’ll also find plenty of Hong Kong’s Vietnamese restaurants peppered around Sha Tin, Kowloon Bay and City and Wan Chai as well.

Mad about phở in Hong Kong’s Vietnamese restaurants

Phở is taking over the world – well, not quite, but Vietnam’s national dish is certainly making waves. Technically pronounced ‘fuh’, this humble noodle soup consists of bone broth, rice noodles, loads of herbs and either meat or chicken (though you can often get veggie as well). While many Vietnamese restaurants in Hong Kong keep things simple and authentic, you’ll also find many variations on this refreshing and wholesome dish. At Phở Hoi An in San Po Kong choose from their extensive selection of noodle soups with a range of seafood, meat and vegetarian fillings available with some truly interesting flavour combinations that really spice this iconic dish up. Phở is one of the most healthy and delicious dishes available and makes for a refreshing lunch or warming dinner, and at any of Hong Kong’s Vietnamese restaurants you can be assured you’ll be in for a phở-tastic time!

    Dishes you simply cannot miss

While it’s true that phở takes the cake as Vietnam’s national dish, there are plenty of other interesting and flavoursome dishes on offer in Hong Kong’s Vietnamese restaurants that are well-worth a nibble. So here’s a few dishes we can’t get enough of. To begin, tuck into a few rice paper rolls, often filled with prawns, tofu or chicken, Vietnamese herbs and vermicelli noodles, or, salt and pepper silken tofu, pan-fried rice cakes or crispy spring rolls. Following on, you’ll find a range of tasty curries, bún chả (vermicelli noodles, grilled pork patties, sprouts, veggies and herbs), bánh xèo (sizzling, savoury pancake), whole grilled snapper fillets infused with lemongrass and chicken cooked with ginger. And for lunch, be sure to sample the famous bánh mì – it’s truly the ideal lunch if you ask us. As you can see, you’re truly spoiled for choice at Hong Kong’s Vietnamese restaurants. So to begin your education, book a table and get feasting!
