The food is always good along with excellent service and the atmosphere of the most charming & friendly picturesque pub which is second to none!
Great food, friendly service and lovely ambience. The menu was interesting, and the presentation good, the pork ribs were fab. Good selection of gin and wine.
Great meal at Scotts Arms. Food &service always good. Prawn cakes with chilli sauce were amazing. Good range of real ales, but for me served a little cold.
Really enjoyable. Good service welcoming greeting on arrival food was very good just a very nice place to be. Recommended, we will Return. Also good parking.
Overall another fine evening at the Scotts Arms. We were initially disappointed by some beers being unavailable (Black Sheep. Moretti) and one of our chosen starters (mussels) . There was then a mix up with our replacement starter but the staff apologised and offered us a round of drinks as compensation. The food was all good, the steak and ale pie as filling and tasty as ever, good scampi too both with the usual good portion of chips. (We have noticed other pubs getting very stingier over chip portions but not the Scotts Arms.) We booked a table for seven thirty and it was jam packed when we arrived with no spare tables but when we left around ten it was empty. The Scotts Arms is our consistent pub of choice for a traditional pub meal. Maybe you need to get in early to be sure of all the menu choices.
Brilliant trip for a special lunch at the Scotts Arms. Our friend was celebrating his 96th birthday and we booked a table for lunch. We were given directions by email before we arrived so that we knew how to find the best way in (disabled entrance) , the perfect table (number 27!) with ease of access to all the facilities. We were served a fabulous lunch by two exceptional waitresses who went above and beyond to make sure it was a wonderful time. The Lamb Sizzler from the specials' board was delicious and the portions were very generous and we were able to exchange salad for vegetables for our older guest. The chicken mango salad was again generous portion and beautiful balance of flavours. It really was a wonderful celebration for our special friend. Thank you Scoffs Arms and especially the waitressing staff; they deserve gold stars from the boss for their perfect service
Had previously had a run of good experiences at the Scotts Arms and so decided to take goods friends for lunch. Now I'm totally embarrassed that I did. First, our first two choices of white wine (from a very short list) were unavailable, as was some of the menu courses we requested. Perhaps this is because we went on a Monday lunchtime but to be honest, that is not my problem. Food presentation was bland. For example, my fried fish (£12.95) was simply laid on a few limp chips. Are mushy peas supposed to be dry and grey/black in colour? Not where I grew up. I could rant on. I'm afraid we will not be returning until we hear some good reports.
Food was nice. Ordered a starter of ribs which were really good followed by a meal from the specials, scallops & linguine with truffle, ok but found the sauce very creamy & didn't taste the truffle. Wasn't aware when we booked a table that there was a live singer performing & we were placed at the table near to the performance. Was shown to another table but it was in a room that had been closed off & there were no oher diners so declined offer. As we'd gone for a catch up with friends found the music too distracting.
Pleasant enough afternoon meal. Not the most extensive menu but probably enough for there to be something for everyone. Portion sizes were larger than expected and the regular sized dishes will be too much for most. Food quality was good. Prices top end for pub grub. Lacked the decent restaurant feel with having to order food at the bar and go for your own drinks. We are sure to go again if in the area.
This is my second visit to the Scotts Arms and on both occasions I have been impressed by the Friendly atmosphere & excellent food. Would certainly recommend it to all ages.
Some may think the food is over priced, but we were aware and this was a treat the food when it arrived looked nice, portions are massive, and it was very nice. However we went on a Thursday night and as expected the pub was quiet, with 3 table in use by diners when we arrived. We were show to our table right in the middle of the 3, so it wasn't the most relaxing meal, felt a bit crammed in. I'm assuming the tables were grouped to make the staff job easier.
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Scott's Arms, we had a nice greeting, the service was friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and good value. My wife liked being able to order a small portion on some of the dishes on the menu. We are giving it a score of 5 as the music wasn't to our taste but that's being a little picky I know! Would definitely recommend.
We were a little worried when we arrived at our pre booked table at 19.30 on Friday night and found it was next to the singer/guitarist who was due to play for 2 hours from 20.00. However we need not have worried as he was very good, not too loud and we were still able to have a conversation! The food was also very good and a fast and efficient service.
One of the best old traditional pub/restaurants in England, The food is fantastic, and the service is top notch. The Scotts Arms is our favourite place to eat.
Greeted with a most friendly welcome, all of the staff working hard with happy smiles. We all enjoyed our food, I chose the swordfish & it was the best I have ever had! The salted caramel cheese cake was divine as well. Each of my dining companions were equally delighted with their choices.
Good food and service. Very generous portions. Decent value. This is the fourth time in a year I have been to the Scotts Arms and I have never been disappointed
Lovely Christmas cheer and tasty food! Warm welcomong fire and friendly staff, all added to a very pleasant evening with friends. Thank you Scotts Arms!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great drop of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. My guests enjoyed their fish pie, my wife enjoyed a big portion of fish and chips, and I had a very tasty plate of calves liver, with colcannon and bacon. A really good experience for each of us.
Tasty food and lots of it. Large selection of draught beers and lagers. Good service from staff. A really nice place to enjoy a meal. If I'm being picky we waited a long time for food to be served, but there were 8 of us so that's understandable. We certainly will go again. Good menu choices.
We had a lovely lunch but found that it was more expensive than when we last were there. It would have been much much better if the music had been turned off - it is so nice to sit in a place with the only noise being a quiet hum of conversation, children laughing etc.!
Nice staff very helpfull , great selection of food and specials board ,wine selection was small but adequate ,The Scotts Arms is in a lovely location.....
One of our favourite eateries! Great friendly service. Disappointed as ordered lamb but there was none. Had guinia fowl instead-nice but v.small portion. He had steak - very happy man! Children's menu good and just right portion sizes for small children. Lovely atmosphere, music right type - mellow and not loud.
Had a lovely meal, the menu is always hard to choose from as so many things sound delicious. ...and the specials included an imaginative combination of chicken and haggis, in honour of the recent Burns Night. Dishes were tastefully presented - and tasty too. We'll go again!
Arrived on time and shown to table. Lady came and took out drinks order. Good order to follow. Food was delicious. Empty plates all round. Absolutely fabulous birthday treat. We visit regularly and are never disappointed.
Good clean gastro pub. Lovely setting, really friendly attentive staff. Good sized portions delightfully cooked. Went on a quiet evening so the atmosphere fizzled out, however not the fault of the restaurant. Can imagine booking being vital at other times. Would certainly return.
Lovely food, good portions and great service. My partner had the pie, which he said was really nice. I had the chicken caeser salad which was a good size with plenty of chicken. Would definitely return.
Valentines dinner. Very busy, not asked if we wanted drinks following service of fizz or following food order,so had to ask for this.Service very good thereafter & food was lovely & good value at £60 per couple.Singer very good & atmosphere just right.
As usual a very pleasant meal. Prices are competitive and value for money. Always enjoy going there for lunch. Has a wide selection on the menu, which should enable anyone to find something.
The Landlord and his staff couldn't do enough to make us feel more welcome. The food was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend the Scott's Arms to anyone visiting the area.
Love this pub/restaurant . Great food in a lovely location. Chicken liver parfait is delish and the Sunday dinner is plentiful. Went to celebrate my parents ruby wedding anniversary and they really enjoyed.
Superb atmosphere, extremely courteous Staff, a wide selection of choices on the Menu. Our meals had large portions & all the food was excellent. I will certainly be booking again in the future.
We've been a few times and always enjoyed it but were both particularly impressed with our food on this occasion. I only had a burger but it was one of the tastiest I've had. Definitely will be back soon!
Really gorgeous food and the service was excellent. We were treated so well. I would definitely go again. We went on one of the Christmas nights and it was so well organised.
Young, enthusiastic, attentive, happy smiley staff, who gave us a warm, welcome on arrival. Great layout and comfy seating. The food was absolutly, delicious, fresh, local produce and piping hot. Highly recommended
fantastic service, great food, lovely atmosphere. Been coming here for years with friends and family. Will be coming more on a Friday night as the ambience is lovely - as always :)
Fantastic little pub. Staff amazing, good exceptional, the menu is dicieving, it's so much more. The atmosphere was brilliant, staff couldn't have been friendlier and the food really was top quality.
Food was excellent. A little disappointed with the service as they were obviously short staffed. We were unable to order more drinks as there was a que at the bar and no waitress service at the table. Don't want to que half way through a meal.
Great food. The belly pork for the main was super, with wonderful thick crackling on top. The ginger caramel ice cream was really nice. Staff very friendly especially the waitresses.
A Traditional pub with good atmosphere, a varied selection to choose from the menu and specials board and local beer. Set in an idilic, Yorkshire village it is a destination for both locals and tourists.
First time i have been really friendly and the food was lovely will be going back again. Even had a bit of live music which was quite good too.
Beautiful food and atmosphere. Menu offering a good variety and something a little different than the usual pub menu. Friendly and efficient staff Really enjoyed our early evening meal.
Great ambiance, great food, great beer (for those who were not driving), great service. We will definitely go back there even though for us it is an hour's drive.
The food was outstanding, we got very big portions, the service we received was polite and welcoming The interior is layed out for space and has a wounderful feel
The booking was smooth and the Scots Arms dealt with my Vegan instructions brilliantly. (Noted in the Quandoo app) Friendly staff and super menu. The venue was real olde worldy and the food tasty.
There was a lovely atmosphere here, with friendly staff and lovely food. The slightest mistake, in my opinion, was not being asked what size glass of wine I wanted. I would certainly go again!
Made to feel very welcome with super, friendly service. Not at all rushed and the food was out of this world! We've never had a bad meal here.👍🏻
Excellent food served in an intimate pub atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to book in advance. Great value for money in a fantastic village location and bags of parking.
We had a really pleasant evening in one of our favourite eating places. The ambience is always excellent and there was live music. The staff were pleasant and attentive. We'll be back soon.
Lovely warm, cosy atmosphere are usual and excellent service, although our table was not shown as reserved (several others were). The food was very good, particularly the soup and roll. Another enjoyable evening.
Great food with Gluten Free options. Garlic mushroom starter was divine. Salmon with Champagne sauce also amazing. Log fire and homely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. Friendly service.
