Stockton-on-Tees is known for plenty of things – the birthplace of the passenger railway, the Scott brothers, not being Middlesbrough – but gourmet cuisine is probably not one of them. The good folks down at 12 Harland Place – located, unsurprisingly, at number 12 on Harland Place in Norton – are changing that reputation, with a food selection that takes in international influences, the freshest local ingredients and an emphasis on events, whether that be their regular brunch and Sunday lunch specials or their extensive live music, theme nights and function room facilities. Book a table now and head on over for a special meal in Stockton.

Stockton-on-Tees may not be the largest town in the world – it’s not really the biggest town on Teesside, though it’s close to to the nicest, we’d say – but what it lacks in size it makes up for in character and amenities. The entertainment options are one of the strongest strings in the Stockton bow, with plenty of nightclubs and bars down the southern end of the High Street, as well as extensive dining options that keep the punters coming in from all over the North East to enjoy themselves. On Harland Place in Norton, you can find the eponymous 12 Harland Place, a gourmet restaurant that is more than well worth a visit.
The menu at 12 Harland Place is packed with British favourites and a few international – particularly Italian – specialities to enjoy. The grill takes precedence, with plenty of steak and burger options, and there is also huge range of pizza and pasta dishes to enjoy. Come on Sunday and enjoy the early brunch or the lunchtime roast: topside of beef, pork loin, lemon and thyme chicken, salmon or a vegetarian option, with all the classic trimmings. Gather together the whole family and reserve space for everyone at 12 Harland Place in the Norton area of Stockton-on-Tees for a gourmet meal, without the gourmet prices.
Love the quirky 60’s American diner theme, very comfy, great vibe, extensive menu, delicious food, brilliant service. Fabulous dessert cabinet full of scrumptious freshly baked cakes and meringues. Amazing cocktails too!
We had a lovely time at Harland place. Service was quick, staff were friendly and the food and drinks were gorgeous! Also, loved the huge selection of desserts, was spoilt for choice!
We have been to 12 Harland Place a number of times now - and we always enjoy it. The service is really good with friendly staff always helpful and the food is excellent which is just what we have come to expect really.
Absolutely delicious food. Cakes & deserts are amazing. Lovely setting, relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend
I booked at 12 Harland Place for an anniversary meal and requested an Anniversary cake to be ready for us at the end of our meal. Unfortunately whilst the meal was lovely (always is), the cake was missed off the request and instead we just had a slice of cake for desert to share. The waiters did apologise for the mixup and then gave us another free slice of cake to take home with us, but the moment/effect of a surprise cake was missed for my Wife which was a shame. Anyhow.. these things happen and I'm sure it was just a simple mistake in this instance, normally they are on the ball. Cheers - Robert.
Met my mum and sister at 12 Harland Place as it was a central meeting point for us. Only visited once before (a year a ago) on an evening. Wasn't really sure what it would be like for lunch but was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was superb. I had the ham hock and cheese toasted sandwich which not only looked great, tasted great too! Definitely worth a visit.
I was really disappointed with my Sunday lunch at Harland place. The food was decent but definitely over priced for what we got. Firstly, I ordered beef which had ran out by 1:30 which is very early in my opinion. Secondly, our main dish came but the sides weren't ready so our food sat in front of us or 5 minutes and was then taken back to be kept warm. When our mains came back, the side(s) were finally ready and were a bit pathetic really, we have a few pieces of broccoli and one piece of cauliflower which isn't very much when you're paying 15 per person for Sunday lunch. The kitchen is somewhat open and after patiently waiting for our food to come we heard one of the chefs say "I am so over this day, can't wait to go home". Maybe that's why our sides took so long because the chefs clearly couldn't be bothered. I think this is a terrible attitude to have and even if you are thinking it you do not say it in hearing distance of your customers! Waited a while to pay the bill and eventually just went to the till to pay it. The annoying thing was that the food was decent, but once again I have been bitterly disappointed with the service. When you compare Harland to places like Muse in Yarm which is the same price, Muse is a much nicer environment, with nicer food and you are treated with more respect as a paying customer. Definitely won't be back in a hurry and the staff need to sort out their attitude to be honest.
My husband and I both had a 3 course meal at Harland Place. The garlic mushrooms were lovely and full of flavour. I had pizza but was a bit disappointed with the taste of the tomato base which was a bit bland. My husband opted for lasagne which came with garlic bread. He thought it was very tasty. We both had white chocolate and lemon cheesecake which was to die for. The service by the friendly polite, staff was , quick and efficient. Overall a lovely restaurant and lovely staff. Will definitely go again.
We loved 12 Harland Place. The menu was varied and the food was great! The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was vibrant coming from a clientele of all ages. We will definitely be going back!
Good variety on the menu. Friendly, quick service. My chosen starter, Fennel, had sold out - at 5pm! Chose Scallops as alternative - delicious! The day steak special, Flat iron, was a generous size, cooked well. Enjoyable first visit - both my friends enjoyed their meals too. Marked 4/6 for not having changed the menu - disappointed when waitress came back to ask me to make a different choice - at very least should have been briefed from kitchen before she took our orders; prices a little higher than comparative; felt a little rushed at the end - when it was clear we were not ordering desserts..
