Alexander The Great is a Greek national hero – despite being debatably Macedonian, depending on where you think Macedonia starts and stops – and down on Plender Street in Camden, they’re paying tribute to the great man in the best possible way: by celebrating the best in Greek food. They’re proud to serve up the very finest that Greece has to offer, from mezze to start to grilled favourites and classic dishes like dolmades and moussaka. We’d start with a spanakopita and some kalamari, followed by the mixed grill, with halloumi, smoked pork lountza, spicy loukanika sausages, pork kebab, chicken kebab, lamb chop and sheftalia. If you’re partial to an ouzo, that’s there as well, so set your course for Plender Street in Camden Town for a Greek restaurant in London that is worth smashing plates about.
I have known this restaurant for year and as always it had a lovely atmosphere and great food. I took two friends new to the Alexander for the first time and they really enjoyed themselves
Always great food and family atmosphere all around. I would recommend traditional Meze’s for large groups. Always great service and familiar faces. I have been going to Alexander the Great past 16 years and I would go another 16. Keep up the good service and tasty food
Came across this place quite last minute and we are so glad that we did. W e were made very welcome, were not rushed at all despite it being a busy Saturday night and the food was absolutely amazing. Very fresh and simple....quite big portions but we noticed they were happy to wrap to take away. Fantastic experience overall.
It was our first time at ATG and we had the most enjoyable dinner. The food was so fresh and delicious, and the service was UNBELIEVABLE, so friendly and attentive and helpful with recommendations, it could not have been better. THANK YOU ATG!
This Greek restaurant was recommended to me by my brother who goes here quite a lot with his wife. The food and service was amazing and I will definitely go there again. I went with my partner and we had the mixed meze. There was so much food we had to get a doggy bag. The meat was cooked to perfection. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and spared the time to chat to us even though the venue was very busy. The only negative would be that the tables and the venue are quite small. This is a good venue for groups as the atmosphere is quite lively. The complimentary drink at the end was also a nice touch. You should definitely try this restaurant.
Beautiful food and great value/portion size... but I had emailed in advance to advise I was part of a hen do and could a little fuss be made of the hen. When we arrived we were first there and the host was on the phone/pointed us at a table and from then we never gave a name/no fuss made. Overall still a great visit but wish we had had that personal touch.
Went on a Thursday evening so wasn't too busy. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. We had the set menu of 1 starter and 1 main for £11.90. The starter was very tasty and the main was delicious with very generous portions. Left feeling very full and happy!
Great service, great food, great portions! Great price! Me and my girlfriend had a mix of cold and hot starters which were all delicious. Followed by Kleftico, the lamb was so tasty and tender and more lamb kebabs! For dessert we shared Ice cream and baklava. We left feeling full and happy!
From walking through the door you know your evening will be great. The decor and service is impecible and warming. The food is incrediable tasty and well presented. Worth every penny. I will be returning.
The perfect restaurant. The atmosphere, temperature, food, and service was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended from a persons first visit. Won't be the last. The meze is. Provides so much food for a great price
