For mouthwatering Middle Eastern cuisine in Mile End, take a trip down to Midlothian Road where you’ll find Ariana Restaurant, a charming restaurant serving up a fusion of Persian and Afghani cuisine in a cosy setting with terracotta and wooden walls adorned with traditional Middle Eastern artwork. Begin your meal with some panir-o-sabzi, a popular Persian dish with fresh tarragon, mint, walnut and feta cheese rolled up in a warm naan bread. Meat lovers will love the mixed grill, skewers of succulent lamb chops, mince lamb, diced chicken breast, whole poussin in portions with tomato and saffron steamed basmati rice, while vegetarians will find plenty of choice too like the ashak, wheat flour stuffed with leek and chickpeas, served with yoghurt and dried mint. First time visiting ariana, food was great but not my usual type of food choice. Staff where friendly and overall night was good. We had both food and shisha there. The shisha lounge was slightly closed up and wasn't able to enjoy a catch up with friends as it seemed everyone was talking over one and other. The seating wasn't treat either and felt other table behind me seats was pushing my seat as the person lent back. Felt uncomfortable and wouldn't consider having shisha there again. However would return to dine in.
