Follow your nose up Stratford’s The Grove to Babylon Lounge, one of East London’s preeminent hookah lounges and Middle Eastern restaurants. First stop is Babylon’s mouthwatering Arabic cuisine and drinks – finished with a good kick back on the terrace with a range of sweet and savoury flavoured shisha to really take you to the Middle East. Located close to Maryland and Stratford stations, Babylon also do a good range of pizzas if you’re trying to keep your diet a little closer to home.
Babylon Lounge is packed with possibilities. The food available ranges across the Middle East – Turkish, Lebanese, and pan-Arabic delicacies best washed down with glass upon glass of sweet mint tea. There’s also big screen Sky sports playing most days of the week and free WiFi if you want to drop in for some lunchtime remote work or study. All of this just five minutes walk from either Maryland or London Stratford stations. You can find Babylon’s oasis down The Grove, just to the east of the Stratford Centre.
Stratford locals know Babylon Lounge as the place to go for good Middle Eastern hospitality. Those from elsewhere in London won’t be aware that a recent refurbishment has made this temple to Arabic food, drink, and hookah down The Grove even more amenable to a good long afternoon and evening of relaxation. Hope on the train or tube to London Stratford or Maryland station and take the short stroll to Babylon for their exquisite lamb shish kebab, signature Zhi Zhi milkshake, and a very special, flavourful house shisha, this last best enjoyed on warmer nights outside on the terrace.
