Bar Opus at One Snowhill is the bar-oriented venture from the crew behind Birmingham’s successful Opus Restaurant, Cafe Opus, and Club Opus. Convenient to Birmingham Snow Hill Station and Snow Hill Queensway, Bar Opus represents fantastic eating, drinking, and private hire opportunities right in the heart of the city. Commuters lap up Bar Opus’ early breakfasts, served from 7:30am and prepared in the open kitchen. As the day wears on, the offering opens up to include bar plates, good drinks, and a popular cocktail hour.

The dreary hike to work via Birmingham’s Snow Hill Station suddenly got somewhat sunny when Bar Opus threw open it’s doors. Located at One Snowhill, right by the station, Colmore Circus Queensway and Snow Hill Queensway, it’s often thronged by dawn raiders picking over the a la carte breakfast menu, looking for a simple and affordable breakfast sandwich, homemade granola trifle, an exotic shashouka hash, or a full English breakfast with Bar Opus’ signature pork and black pudding sausages. As dawn gives way to day, menu keeps on enthralling the inner city, with the gourmet Earl of Stonham wagyu burger, Brixham Bay bouillabaisse, slow-braised free-range pork cheeks, and crab linguine.
Come lunchtime, the tempo at Bar Opus has changed somewhat. Bar plates have begun to be served to complement the bigger meals, and Birmingham’s inner-city grazers in the vicinity of Snow Hill Queensway and the station might be eyeing up the drinks list, packed as it is with wines, beer and cider, spirits, and Bar Opus’ famous cocktails. It is, perhaps, best to wait: Bar Opus does a High Five list from 5pm until 7pm, featuring five cocktails at a fiver each. An Opus Fizz, a Kraken Day, a Vanilla & Rhubarb Metropolitan, a Melontini, or a Chaseman Mule, go down a treat with, perhaps, slow-cooked pork belly nuggets, wild mushroom arancini, salt and pepper Brixham squid, Welsh rarebit, or homemade flatbreads with daily meat and vegetarian specials (also only a fiver each plate). Bar Opus: a work of art.
The manageress was very helpful in accommodating our request to up the booking from 2 to 3 people to allow our friend to join us. Food took a while to arrive, considering there weren't many food orders being placed, but once it arrived it was very good (we all had the burger). Wine quite pricey for what it was but to be expected in the business district of the city, I suppose! We weren't rushed to vacate our table and we had a very relaxing and enjoyable evening there. Would return.
The service was so fast, we were worried it was lunch time and the food would take time but were so surprised that it came so fast! thanks
Generally a very pleasing experience. Nice staff and service. Good food and very accommodating to dietry requests. Nice interior design too. Over all a nice place to eat.
Food very expensive, £10 for a very small beef and horseradish sandwich. Also temperature was very cold in there. Took 10 minutes to get the bill.
