Barrica is clearly a labour of love, born out of many trips to Spain. When you walk through the door you leave the congested streets of the West End behind you for a taste of Spain. They have managed to create an environment that people can feel relaxed enough to enjoy a comfortable business lunch, a sherry based cocktail with a pinxo straight after work or somewhere to feast yourself on inventive tapas all evening. The wines, sherries and other drinks have been carefully selected to offer a full reflection of Spain’s fantastic diversity. The same can be said for the food menu as the dishes clearly take ingredients and influences from all over the country. Fully deserving of their Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Barrica Tapas Bar is more than just a place to eat – it’s a trip to the south in oh so many ways. The
concept was to create a place that would not feel out of place if it were situated on a busy street in
Barcelona. And that’s why Barrica on Goodge Street feels and looks like the perfect place in the West
End to take a short break and leave the hectic City behind, be it only a short hour or so. Relax and
have a great taste of Spain, great espresso, olives, almonds and jamon with a glass of sherry.
Barrica Tapas Bar is a place where great Mediterranean taste comes alive. The restaurant on Goodge Street spoils you with a host of foods sourced directly from Spain. Kick back and dive in, have a glass of wine by itself with a friend or crossword, as well as somewhere to feast yourself on really good, authentic tapas or enjoy a gin and tonic made with an enthusiasm that all food and drink should be celebrated with. The wines and sherries have been carefully selected to offer a full reflection of Spain’s fantastic diversity. The same goes for the food as Barrica serve tapas dishes with influences from all over the country.
Warm welcome, friendly staff and generally good service. Good choice of both drinks and food. We liked all our choices, particularly the veal cheeks. Quite noisy but a good atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the experience.
I visited Barrica on a Friday night and absolutely loved it. The tapas was delicious and well priced, the atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The wine list was also very good and our waiter was only too happy to help to recommend a wine which would suit our tastes. I will be coming here again and would recommend it to anyone.
Great food, drinks and service. I would definitely go back and recommend Barrica The hake (I think it was Hake or another white fish), was particularly nice
Great food and fantastic wine. The staff are attentive and so helpful. They explained each dish as we didn't understand some of the Spanish! Definitely going back
I have been a loyal customer of this place for over 3 years now. The tapas concept appeals very much to me, one gets to try a variety of smaller dishes (each of them great in itself), which are served over a certain period of time (not all at once). The food at Barrica is authentically Spanish, its simple yet refined..the word "honest" springs to mind. I last went this Friday after an 8 pm finish at the office and began with a cold glass of Mahou, followed by salted almonds, a bottle of red wine from the Navarra region, patatas bravas, jamon cebo, lomo iberico, sautéed duck breast on toast and of course a few servings of croquetas. It was a perfect finish to a long day, the service was friendly (as always) and the food was excellent. I will definitely be back soon.
Staff took the wrong orders, forgot to bring some of the orders and added random "orders" (which we did not place) onto the bill. the food was alright. Not as good as it used to be which is a shame. I was telling my friends who had never been to Barrica before that it was my favourite tapas place in London (I've been coming to Barrica for probably 3-4 years now) but I don't think I can make that statement after this meal as the food just wasn't good enough to make up for the lacking service.
Barrica is really nice for a casual delicious tapas dinner. All our dishes were beautifully cooked, the prices reasonable and the service attentive. The wine and cocktails were remarkably good. The only thing I would complain about are the stools. After a couple of hours I felt quite uncomfortable. If I had had access to email in the day, I could have asked for a seated table however.
I continue to return to Barrica to sample some of the truly delicious tapas dishes they serve. It would be difficult to single some out, but the smoked duck breast with plum butter on crostini is simply stunning!! Love the hustle and bustle of the place. I have my next visit booked already!
Barrica is a fantastic to wine and dine. The service and staff are impeccable and a delight to be around. The food is divine and the wine is even better. Loved my experience and will highly recommend to anybody. Thanks!
Barrica has a great ambiance and the service is (mostly) very helpful. The food is just fantastic, and it's a treat to find around 80% of the menu available gluten free, and much dairy free too.
