Gorgeous, tasty and well presented food in a beautifully decorated venue, served by very friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. I’ve been attending events at Berties for over 20 years, I got married there, we go every Nee Years Eve and have been to the new tea rooms several times. I have never received any but excellence from this amazing place. X
Beautiful setting, attentive staff and lovely fresh food. Will definitely come again
Absolutely delightful! Never visited before but will return. The tea room is welcoming and nostalgic. The young lady serving us was appropriately informative and attentive. We chose a Yorkshire afternoon tea and a Bertie’s. Both were beautifully presented and a tasty combination. Any item remaining on your plate is willingly packaged to take home if you so wish. Prosecco and fresh coffee enhanced the treat. Certainly worth the visit!
I had the vegetarian afternoon tea really enjoyed my friend had the traditional, service and food excellent. Will be back for more! Great experience and good for elland
We had a good time we had a mixture of things my husband had a scone with clotted cream and jam it was very nice scone could have been slightly warmed he had the dargling tea that was lovely I had a cake slice the lime and coconut and pistachio it was a lovely moist cake but I could not taste the lime or coconut. My sister had the porridge with Berries and honey that was lovely. The ambiance’s and decor were lovely and staff were helpful. Outside door was open so it was alittle cold. Apart from that we had a lovely time.
Sorry to be writing this as had high expectations. Lovely setting and nice staff but disappointed with the food. Sandwiches were good to the taste but no consistency in size. Both of our scones were under baked - nobody likes a scone that's 'doughy' in the middle. Selection of mini cakes that were bland (fruit tart), soggy pastry (fruit tart), drier than dry (Bakewell tart), dense red velvet cake, no vanilla slice, no tangy lemon tart and opera cake with sponge like a mousse. A strange lemon flavoured mousse/cream/butter in a mini Kilner jar (not on the menu so do not know what it was!). The mini banoffee tart was lovely though!! There was only one of each mini cake between 2 so it was more of a taster if you cut them in half like we did. Only one type of decaf coffee available. For £17.50 I expected much higher quality so won't be returning.
brill place . people so lovley . been two times now will tell people to go took mother in law for her 88 th birthday she was so happy not alot of places to go in elland thats when you are in you would think you was some where else
A wonderful atmosphere and greeting as we arrived. The setting is so pretty and the tables have enough space to chat freely. The afternoon tea was perfect as fantastic to look at as to eat with lots of variety. We will definitely be back to sample the other options.
The venue is lovely, lacks a little atmosphere and would probably benefit from background music or live music, on our visit music only started playing mid way through our visit. There was also a workman walking around the tearoom servicing fire extinguishes, which was a bit odd as I would have expected this to be done outside service hours. You certainly would not see that happening in Betty's.
Enjoyable experience - nice surroundings, friendly efficient staff - will visit again soon. Food was lovely good choice. Was really good that we could mix and match from menus - ensuring that everyone was happy with their selection. A really good birthday venue.
