The most excellent Indian food, made with the finest ingredients and served with style, just about sums up this Islington Indian restaurant. On the quieter Penton Street just off Pentonville Road, within easy walking distance of Angel tube station and the nearby Hilton Hotel DoubleTree, Bombay Lounge is a superlative example of fine Indian dining in London. Everything about Bombay Lounge evokes the non-generic, from the freshly blended spices used to conjure their exquisite sauces to the crisp white tablecloths that add an extra dash of elegance to the establishment
Bombay Lounge is undoubtedly one of London’s best Indian restaurants. Even avowed residents of other cities in the UK that claim themselves to be curry capital can’t help themselves. Chicken, king prawn, and lamb balti dishes blow away Brummies, while guests from the nearby Hilton Hotel DoubleTree – most likely accustomed to the finer things in life – are enraptured not only by the quality of Bombay Lounge’s cuisine, but by the attention paid to small details – professional service, beautifully laid tables, and a quietly luxuriant atmosphere. The elegance of Bombay Lounge’s dining rooms is belied by the stolid terrace down Penton Street, just off Islington’s busy Pentonville Road, that this Indian restaurant calls home. We think this modesty is a good policy – it’s what’s inside that counts.
Try out Bombay Lounge’s special Bombay Wrap to start, or move straight to the Chef’s Hundy or a rather unusual example of Indian-Chinese cuisine in the form of Manchurian lamb or chicken. London curry lovers will enjoy having their appetites sharpened by Indian appetisers and starters before considering something from this Penton Street kitchen’s huge selection of old favourites: bhuna, dhansak, dupiaza, korma, madras patha, rogan, and vindaloo dishes. If you can’t decide what to choose from Islington’s finest Indian restaurant, head for Bombay Lounge’s chef’s specials or opt for one of their set menus. Bombay Lounge is a true delight of Indian cuisine
Great food - tasty and not at all greasy. Quiet on a week night but I don't know why as was very good value with very friendly service too.
Definitely worth a visit, good food, good portions and friendly service. 2 mins walk from the Hilton hotel on the way back to KX station. The Sibly special is well worth every penny, try it you wont be disappointed!
Second visit to Bombay Lounge and it didn't disappoint again. This time I took my work colleagues and the food again was lovely and service great. Thanks
