Inspired by the unique delicatessens in the Lower East Side of New York City, Gary, the co-owner of Bretta & Co. on Ropewalks’ Heathfield Street, decided to bring his experiences along to share with the people of Liverpool. Run along with his sister – whose name is actually Bretta – he has managed to turn his dream into a reality. The duo are committed to sourcing local and organic produce whenever possible, with many ingredients coming straight from the farmer’s market. Open daily, Bretta & Co. is found conveniently by Liverpool Central in the city centre.

Bretta & Co. is more than a gourmet restaurant – it’s a delicatessen, food store and wine shop all in one. Featuring amazing breakfasts, delicious sandwiches, afternoon tea, and freshly made desserts alongside an ample selection of craft beers and hand-selected wines, you could say Bretta & Co.’s got the whole bistro thing down pat. You can find this labour of love down Heathfield Street, just off Bold Street, in the heart of Liverpool’s Ropewalks, open from 8:30 am until 11:30 pm for your wine-drinking pleasure.

Take a world tour with breakfast items like the San Francisco (avocado on rye toast), the London (smoked salmon or smoked mackerel with scrambled eggs and toast) or the Florence (eggs florentine with spinach and ham). Come in during the afternoon or evening and experience the bistro’s hearty mains: free-range pork belly, aubergine curry and pan roasted lamb rump, to name just a few.
