If there’s one thing that unites food and football, its the ability of both to unite. Cafe Football was born out of a passion for both the beautiful game and beautiful food (and drink) and comes to London courtesy of this buzzing cafe, restaurant and bar in London’s Westfield Stratford City shopping mall, sandwiched between Stratford and Stratford International stations. Here, the latest match fixtures (football and more) are showcased alongside superb food with a down-to-earth British and European twist. There’s a fine range of liquid refreshment on tap, too, including Football Cafe’s house brew.
Cafe Football is something of a community hub for football fans and foodies alike. This relaxed, vibrant eatery in Westfield Stratford City not only broadcasts all the live sports you could wish for, but also hosts a heap of football-mad events. This is on top of their premier league food and drink! Owned by Man United legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, Cafe Football’s London outlet (there’s another at Manchester’s Old Trafford) is headed up by a top-flight squad of dedicated restaurateurs and football fanatics. Michelin-starred chef Michael Wignall is the creative force behind Cafe Football, while general manager Liz Reece keeps everything on-side and grounded in good humour, and Lancs lad Brendan Fyldes fields things in the kitchen as executive chef.
Together the team at Cafe Football’s London HQ have put together a dream team combination of fine food and drink, with names consistent with the spirit of the game. Settle into Cafe Football’s cosy premises in Westfield Stratford City and begin your pre-match warm up with sweet cured chilli with coal mayonnaise or chipolata sausages. The Kick Off lists starters from simple Cuppa Soup to racks of ribs and the shareable Starting Eleven platter. Burgers and pizzas are a surefire winner: The Wizard burger (Welsh lamb and harissa with smoked chilli creme fraiche) and the Overhead Kick pizza (grilled Mediterranean vegetables with feta and rocket in fine calzone form) are our picks. The playful selection continues with Terrace Food, Ball Food, Fan’s Favourites and, if you’re going into overtime, a list of sides and extras. Not to be forgotten is this Stratford cafe-bar’s big pool of wine, draft and craft beer, cocktails, milkshakes, and more. Heads up! Reserve a table at this popular Stratford restaurant to make sure you get in on the action.
A really great atmosphere to enjoy a game of football. Dont worry about rivalry or overly drunk people. I promise you will have a great time watching the team you like with the people you like. So book a table & enjoy the vibe. #TheBetterTheGame=BetterVibes
Love Cafe Football, food is good, beer is cold and footie on a million TVs, what can you not love? Slightly let down by lack of staff when restaurant was very busy and miserable maitre d. But overall, great.
Great atsmosphere for the football. Served very quickly and food was great, fresh and hot. I have been here a few times and it never disappoints.
