Tacos like this are a good idea any hour, any day, at any time of the year, but if you hit Chimichanga during their happy hours you’ll also catch some of the cheapest nips of top-shelf Scotch, tequila and rum around Little India and Jalan Besar! This hip spot on Dunlop Street, just off Jalan Besar, is one of Singapore’s coolest new Mexican eateries – it’s cosy, though, so make sure you book a spot before you go!

Slightly tucked away on Dunlop Street, Chimichanga is a place you would probably be quite surprised to stumble over in this less buzzing area of Singapore’s Little India. First of all, it’s not an old man with a fruit and vegetable stall – it’s a funky contemporary Mexican eatery and bar, a spot for cool kids and connoisseurs, an oasis of tacos and tequila where you may not expect it. And those are only the first impressions given by Chimichanga’s cool decor – a narrow alley of kitschy tables, low-hanging lights, stripped-back walls and brick-tiled floor – we haven’t even got to the food yet.
Chimichanga calls itself ‘Singapore’s first Mexican dive bar’ and they’ve followed this theme to the hilt, stocking plenty of refreshing beers, cocktails are Mexican classics or given a Mexican twist, authentic agave mezcal is used alongside tequila, and the menu features a lot of delicious Mexican bar nibbles, like jalapeno pops, chipotle wings and classic fried potatoes. Still, the stars of the show here on Dunlop Street are Chimichanga’s tacos, tantalising little treats that tease your taste buds with an armada of vibrant fillings. Book a place now, if you dare dabble in taco addiction!
Excellent food and very good quality and freshness, at reasonable prices. Rustic atmosphere giving you a feel of great simple food that is tasty and popular with locals.

Great food and excellent service as usual! Will be back for more! :) highly recommended for no frills Mexican feed!
A small and cosy restaurant (that takes a little bit of searching to find) but has great and really affordable food. I had the beef quesadilla and shared the loaded nachos with a friend. It was definitely a lot of food and we couldn't really finish the loaded nachos. For the first time ever, I hear about 'Mexican coke'. It is supposed to be a less gassy version of the usual coke and I do think it is. didnt feel so bloated after the meal.
At first glance, this place looks normal plain. I would say this looks like a casual place to eat and drink with friends. The finger food came in huge portions! Definitely for sharing in a big group. Me and my friend made a mistake of ordering 2 bites and 2 eats. We couldn't finish them! Great place to go on a weekday dinner.
Very vibrant place with awesome tasting Mexican food. You will never get sick of the nachos! Really cheap beer during happy hour too. Grab your friends and head down now!
The service crew was inattentive and our drink order needed repeated reminders to get to the table. We had all the burritos available on the menu, but they were disappointing. The rice in the burrito made up close to 60% of the filling, other than being underseasoned and unpalatable. There was a pitiful amount of beans (really less than 10) in my burrito and as you would have guessed, minimal amount of meat. I won't be revisiting this place for the food or the service.
The restaurant is slightly out of the way however i guess that is also the reason that it is quiet and we were able to have good conversations. Food was decent and cheap!
Crowd, service and food was good except for the fact that they didn't have any sour cream or guacamole. Very odd. Try not to drive as finding lots can be a challenge.
