Decorated in a simple and traditional style, Edinburgh’s Chop Chop has lots of charm. Serving up small plates perfect for sharing, Chop Chop prides itself on creating every dish from scratch. It would be silly to go to Chop Chop and not try their dumplings, which are so good that they’re even sold in supermarkets and distributed worldwide. We love the guo tie (fried dumplings) filled with beef and chilli, and the jiao zi (boiled dumplings) with pork and coriander.

Other delicious options at Chop Chop include spicy squid with garlic, lamb with cumin seed and coley in black bean sauce, as well as an extensive array of vegetarian choices like crispy shredded potato and spicy stir-fried tofu. Chop Chop on Morrison Street in Edinburgh’s Haymarket has established itself quite a following, even placing as a runner-up in Gordon Ramsay’s quest to find the best local restaurant. You have to try the dumplings they are so good. The best ones have to be the boiled ones especially the beef ones

Food lovely as always. We had the "endless" banquet. Wife likes aubergines, I like dumplings so we cleared it! Service friendly, with the attentive but unobtrusive owner/boss quietly circulating around the tables checking that everything was OK. When we got to the end of the set list of courses he organised a couple of further courses and checked later that we had had enough. Couldn't ask for better service.

It's a brilliant restaurant -- highly recommended for the best Chinese food and dumplings in Edinburgh. The garlic aubergine and cucumber salad are family favourites.
