Celebrating great Spanish food, East London’s Copita del Mercado bring the goods to Wentworth
Street. Meaning: great tapas, great wine and excellent hospitality. There is a huge selection of wines
and sherry, which Copita del Mercado have long been famous for. Also, come by for the hands down
best selection of Gin & Tonic in the area. The food is Bib Gourmand quality, so you know what you’re
in for – high quality, wonderful recipes, flawless execution.
And you probably remember Copita del Mercado from their days on D’Arblay Street in Soho. Feeling
there was a great authentic Spanish place lacking in the area, Copita del Mercado took their talents
out to East London, thereby bringing culinary inspiration to the region around Wentworth Street.
However, they’re retaining the look of their Soho place with hanging lights, wooden ledges and
blackboards facing onto the street. Come by soon, as they offer great specials to celebrate their
recent opening – and don’t forget to make a reservation beforehand.
Our original tapas bar Copita opened up on D'Arblay Street, Soho back in 2011 and we always felt the
area around Spitafields and Commercial Street lacked a really good tapas bar so we back ourselves
to fill that gap. Copita del Mercado brings the essence of Copita in it's Michelin Bib Gourmand food,
great selection of wines, craft beers, sherries and of course our, dare we say it, legendary gintonics
(as they say in Spain) and place them in our larger space at 60 Wentworth Street. We retain the look
of our Soho 'mother' from the front with hanging lights, wooden ledges and blackboards facing onto
the street but once inside you will notice we also have a more comfortable and spacious area for
restaurant-style dining whilst still providing for more casual, tapas-style eating. From July 2015 we
will be able to serve 40 covers in our spacious outside area, out the back, where there will be a water
fountain (not ours!) and wonderful views of the 'Gherkin' and the 'Cheesegrater'. We look forward to
welcoming you.
