Although Coté is a chain. It’s very professional and they cook the good things well fir great value. If I went into an independent restaurant and found this food I would tell the world, sometimes we get a bit snooty about chains. They are a class act in all they do.
Service was amazing. They made sure we were supplied drinks during the meal and weren’t left waiting at any time. Food was good enjoyed by all in party.
It’s always a pleasure to visit Cote Chelmsford. The menu choices are good (too good when it comes to choosing), the meals are delicious, service friendly and efficient and altogether great value for money. Bravo à tous!
Welcomed the choice of two fixed-price menus for lunch today (as well as a la carte). We both chose the Asparagus with vinaigrette dressing, followed by the Salmon and Ratatouille , accompanied by a glass of nicely chilled Sauvignon Blanc. The food, severed by attentive but unobtrusive staff, was absolutely delicious! Such a pleasure to eat at this lovely restaurant.
we arrived after a visit to a local gallery and it was as though we were meeting friends - amazing welcome and Laura, the manager, was particularly helpful - we had a slight problem with one of our meals which is very very unusual and the waiter offered to take it back but we were in a hurry and so declined but I noticed that he saw Laura and at the end of our meal it was clear that Laura had taken notice and had sorted this out - this is the sign of a very good manager as we came away feeling that we had been listened to and that the Manager had taken steps to try to remedy things. I have to say that this in no way is meant as a complaint - it is more of a compliment and we will eat here again and again as we like it so much Trevor
First time at Cote Chelmsford. We were due there at 13:00 hrs but turned up a bit early, no problem, a warm welcome and we were taken to a table straight away. The waiting staff were very friendly and explained all the various food selections that were on offer. We ate from the a la carte and specials menus and we kicked off with Melon and ham which was great. We following it up the duck breast for me and duck comfit for her. Mine was just right but my wife's was seriously over done, near to cremation. Decision time, send it back or carry on. The problem of returning a meal is what happens to the meal which is ok. We carried on. Then on to dessert - Crème Caramels for two and they were delicious. So ended our first visit. We did mention the overdone duck to the waitress and she did say that we should have returned it so you could argue it was down to us. Anyway, overall a good visit and meal spoiled a little bit by v crispy duck.
First of all your staff was excellent - they were very busy and I drink wine quickly so I had to serve myself a couple of times but when things got quieter I got a very high level of service and my glass replenished. The onion soup was almost as good as we had in Paris 10 years ago and certainly the best we have had in the U.K. We had the T bone sliced steak for 2 - it was cooked perfectly as was the carrots and green bean sides - however the plates were not as hot as I would have liked and what a pity you serve skinny fries in plastic pots which get cold quickly. Thick cut chips would stay warmer longer. Finally there was no indication that you served liqueurs - we finished off our meal with amaretto and bailey's but had to ask if you sold them as their was no indication clearly visible on the menu. So close to 6 - well done but not the best establishment in Chelmsford yet.
A friend and I had lunch together to celebrate my birthday and were as always greeted warmly by the staff as we are both regular diners. We had a Kir Royale as a free drink which we both really enjoyed. As my friend did not want a large meal she had 2 starters, the Crab mousse and a mushroom dish. I had a blue cheese and walnut starter followed by chicken Caesar salad. The meals were tasty and well presented and delivered to the table smartly after ordering. One of us had a crème caramel dessert followed by mint tea for one and coffee for the other. The reason I did not give this experience 6 stars is because the service was slow at the end of the meal, we had asked for the bill but although it arrived no one brought the pay point machine so eventually we paid at the cash desk. A minor hitch but one of us had another appointment so we needed to leave when we asked for the bill.
We had a simply delicious meal here. We were welcomed warmly and our attendant was very charming. We selected our food then the wine. We chose a particular wine, although we were advised another was better with our menu choice, but we thought it would be too dry. The sommelier, a very pleasant young woman with an obvious passion for wine came to our table and advised us that the other wine would be really delicious, and we could try it with no obligation to go ahead with it. We accepted her offer and were so glad we did; it wasn't dry, in our understanding of that word, and complemented our menu perfectly. I have never had that level of interest shown me before at a restaurant. Very impressive. We will be returning. Thanks to all staff at Cote Brasserie, Chelmsford!
A group of 7 of us went to celebrate a friend's birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it a very special evening. I'd taken balloons for the table which they put on before we arrived but also put up some extra banners and confetti off their own back. When we arrived they gave us a free glass of fizz to start the celebrations which was a lovely surprise and our waiter was really attentive throughout the evening. All the staff even came and sung happy birthday when we asked them to bring the cake out. It was such an wonderful evening and the food was fabulous as well.
