More about the restaurant: Côte Gloucester

“Here were good ingredients handled with skill and care to create dishes of far higher quality than many I’ve eaten in bistros in France”
– Paul Fulford, Birmingham MailIt couldn’t have been long before Côte Brasserie made it to Gloucester, and it’s also apropos given the French bistro-style restaurant family’s tendency to trailblaze through the UK hinterlands that they’ve set up shop among the exciting developments at The Docks. Possessing all the warmth and quality that this family of restaurants is known for, Côte Brasserie’s Merchant’s Road location at the Gloucester Quays is ideal for a working lunch, a bite to eat after a spot of sightseeing, or for an evening out with friends.

“Here were good ingredients handled with skill and care to create dishes of far higher quality than many I’ve eaten in bistros in France”
– Paul Fulford, Birmingham MailThe Gloucester incarnation of what is perhaps the UK’s most recognisable family of French restaurants finds itself down at the spruced up docklands, the Gloucester Quays, alongside a clutch of other eateries, bars, and shops. This ex-industrial quarter is being sensitively transformed, with the beautiful brick warehouses of Merchant’s Road preserved even as they serve a new role. A visit to Côte Brasserie makes you feel as though you’re sat by the Seine.

At Côte Brasserie there’s everything from an early French breakfast (two scrambled eggs with boudin noir, bacon and a field mushroom on toasted brioche) to light lunches, main course meals, and, of course, an array of decadent French desserts. Here in The Gloucester Docks we recommend starting by sampling the charcuterie board or the steak tartare, before moving on to a light main like the chicken and walnut salad. For something larger, the traditional beef Bourguignon is always a win, as is the half chargrilled Breton chicken served with fries and your choice of sauce, or the pan-fried haddock wrapped in smoky French bacon with braised puy lentils and wilted baby spinach, dill and beurre blanc. However you approach this new French restaurant addition to Gloucester’s waterfront, be sure to beat the crowds by booking!
