Tucked along Moorfields High Walk beneath the towering Brutalist skyscrapers of London’s Barbican, and a pebble’s throw from Moorgate station, you’ll find a London wine bar and restaurant that looks as if it never saw a slab of poured concrete in its life. Davy’s City Boot is named for the leather sheath that a bottle of wine was once gently placed in before being flogged – before having its cork bashed in to get at the Dionysian contents within, and Davy’s wine bar empire is all about conserving London’s old world charm in terms of decor, classic British cuisine, and well-stocked and dusty cellars of fine wines from around the world.
