Superb fish menu and friendly staff in a quiet atmosphere at reasonable prices. Booked again immediately for next evening. Only been dining here whenever in Harrogate for the past 45 years.

The food was fantastic and very good value for money. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked really good so definitely one to go back to.

Fantastic, oysters, sole and a great bottle of Chablis. The service was excellent and the dining room is small but not too intimate. I would definitely recommend the Rum & Monkey

Lovely food - can’t beat it - but sadly the restaurant is too cramped and noisy. Also, although it did improve during our visit, initially service was very slow.

Absolutely fantastic.100% for the food, service and ambience. Lovely restaurant in the heart of Harrogate. Sarah, the hostess, greeted people new and old and attended to everyone in a manner that made each one feel special. Will definitely return.

Fabulous as ever ... yummy queenie scallops followed by John Dory and lemon risotto accompanied by a crisp rose wine. Friend had brill and was great too.

delightful staff and rear location. thoroughly enjoyed the meal...maybe just a bit too much cheese . my husband had the sole and loved it. says better than the lemon sole he had at bottom of Spanish steps in time a few years ago. I had lobster thermidor and it was very good.

Not very welcoming. Impersonal and no thanks for gratuity on relatively expensive bill.i cannot think of returning in the foreseeable future. No more comments or words

Delicious food and excellent service, the scallops with cheese and garlic were to die for, sea bass perfectly cooked. Restaurant was a little on the cold side.

Excellent meal. Suave service. Only reason it didn’t get full marks was that a very large group arrived who were extremely loud. Not something the restaurant could do very much about and just our bad luck. We didn’t make a complaint because why would we but the waitress apologised to us without our making any reference to this rowdy set of people. Food 10 out of 10 Service 10 out of 10 Ambience 6 out of 10 but only because of a large noisy group of people.

The starter of smoked salmon pate was delicious. My wife had the sea bass and I had the monkfish wrapped in smoky bacon. Both were excellent.

We booked lunch at 13.30. By that time it became obvious that the staff were indifferent to us.The food was average, service below average. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years. It is no longer a special experience

Food was beautiful however the seating felt a bit cramped and the decor was a bit dull. The staff was friendly and service was fast.

Haven't been here for years as it was quite tired and a shadow of the glory days, but, Lovely set lunch menu, reasonable price. Good wine list, very pleasant staff and it's back on the Harrogate favourites list.

Staff and the service were excellent and the food tasted great. If you want something a little different and a long established restaurant this is the place.

I had not visited this restaurant for over 15 years, and it was delightful to enjoy another pleasant meal at the Drum and Monkey. I decided to take the special lobster menu that was on offer, which was quite delicious and well presented. The staff and service levels were of the highest order, and although I was eating on my own I was made to feel like a valued customer. Thanks to David and the team at the Drum and Monkey for making me feel welcome once again. I hope I will return in a much shorter time period in the future!

Why have I not eaten here before. A hidden gem in Harrogate. Highly recommended. Service and food was first rate. If you like shellfish and seafood look no further.

I booked it for me and my husband for our anniversary meal as we fancied a seafood restaurant. I had half lobster Thermidor and my husband had scallops for starters, they were honestly cooked to perfection! The mains we had were faultless too and we just about had room for dessert, but glad we had them. The lemon meringue pie was to die for! Friendly service and lovely atmosphere. One of the best meals out we’ve had in a long time! Thanks to all at drum and monkey!

The food was nice although didn't live up to expectations. The service however left a lot to be desired, the waiters failed to deal with two of our requests, without being reminded and we weren't offered further drinks, and by that time we couldn't be bothered to ask!

Excellent food, everything was cooked to perfection . I cannot fault the service, they cannot do enough to help. It it well worth a visit.

Great Range of fish , top food , wide range of wine pleasant atmosphere will be making it my local! The Lobster and Oysters were absolutely fabulous.

Delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere with very helpful staff. We went for a wedding anniversary treat and enjoyed ourselves very much. Both ate seafood dishes we had never tried before and loved them.

Delectable meal, the lobster Thermidor was delicious. The staff are truly delightful, exceptionally friendly. Only small complaint is that the tables are rather small, they use what I presume was once the old singer sewing machine table, which are obviously very quaint but are small & narrow.

This is a great place to eat fish, love it and have been many times always very good. We live on the Wirral and go to Harrogate a lot, and never miss a chance to eat here.
