Fine Foods is what its name suggests, an emporium of culinary delights on the corner of Long Lane and Wild’s Rents in Bermondsey. Fine Foods fulfills a number of functions for London foodies, offering catering services as well as a deli and restaurant. It’s the restaurant that we’re mad about, called Locanda del Melo and serving up traditional and peerlessly authentic Italian cuisine created from the products that Fine Foods stocks. Pasta, sandwiches and salads, baked goods and coffee – all perfect representations of the Italian way of culinary life.
Lovely staff, excellent food, tiny place with lovely cosy vibe. More than one veggie option, hurrah! I think that everyone should go and discover it, what a great evening.
Cosy little place with only a handful of tables with very good food. Staff pleasant, service fine. But if you want a place with lots of people and buzz this is not.
Just fabulous - molto buono! Lovely service very caring and nice focused easy menù to choose from Good wine selection B Great value and excellent flavours
Italian formaggi and charcuterie, antipasti and dolci – just some of the possibilities in store for the kind of London resident that likes to snoop around the Borough Markets all day looking for culinary gold. Fine Foods stocks pasta, pasta sauces, pickles, preserves, jams, biscotti and desserts– mostly from import supplier Colfiorito plus a huge range of fine, artisan products from across Italy. It’s ingredients like these that make their way into the food on offer from Locando del Melo, the deli-restaurant arm of this Bermondsey food lovers’ paradise.
If you’re looking for a simple, quick bite to eat or a pick me up, head to Fine Foods’ Locanda del Melo for coffee (supplied by Incas) and a ciabatta sandwich (from local Bermondsey Italian bakery Ticino) or Fine Foods’ own homemade foccacia packed with the cheese and cuts that are a major part of the deli’s repertoire. The pasta is made in house too, and dishes like the tagliatelle with Calabrian ‘nduja sausage or eggless pasta with confit duck make their way onto the primi piatti part of the restaurant’s classically structured lunch and dinner menu. An absolute gem down Long Lane in London SE1, bookings are strongly recommended, especially for a Friday and Saturday dinner sitting.
