One of London’s favourite Mediterranean restaurants, Fora is an upscale establishment serving the very best of this exotic cuisine to the City’s discerning diners. Far more than the usual fast food kebab joints that many ignorantly associate with Turkish food in London, Fora uses healthy ingredients and traditional Middle Eastern cooking methods to create dishes that are fresh, delicious and satisfying. Located on Houndsditch close to Aldgate tube station, this lovely restaurant is your key to the flavours of Istanbul and beyond.
The concept of Fora is relatively cut and dry – that’s serving up delicious authentic Mediterranean and Turkish food made with the best produce and ingredients from exquisute oremnises in the heart of the City of London, moments from Aldgate. The folks behind this distinguished restaurant on Houndsditch take pride in affording you the luxury of kicking back in an appropriately luxurious atmosphere whose Middle Eastern spirit very much matches the dishes offered. Offering a fine dining restaurant experience as well as great service, Fora is a wonderful place to enjoy and discover the cuisines of Turkey, the Levant and more.
Adding to the attraction of the restaurant’s prime Aldgate-based address down Houndsditch, Fora hosts special events such as Arabic belly dancing entertainment and, further, you’ll also find attractive offers and special menus for the holidays. Planning a special occasion? The staff at Fora’s restaurant is more than happy to assist with their experience in party planning and cooking. Whether you’re planning for anniversary parties or dinners for a large group, award ceremonies or cocktail parties – you, your nearest and dearest plus this peerless Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant in the City of London are perfect partners for unforgettable occasions.
Food is always first class and the service is provided in a relaxed manner . We are never rushed and the staff are always very friendly - overall one of the best restaurants in the City
It was amazing! The food, the atmosphere with the guitarist! And the service was incredible! I proposed to my fiancé and it made my evening and hers magical! So thank you!
We went on a Thursday night, not too busy at all. Décor was lovely, staff attentive and food was amazing. What was also an added bonus was a guy playing the guitar - he was fab too! Will def be back : )
A very nice and cozy place, amazing food and very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back and will recommend it to Turkish food lovers.
I still love this place, the food is always good and it represents good value for money although the drinks prices seem to have gone up recently. It still lacks the personal touch and warmth that it used to have (when Bella was the Manager) although the staff are efficient. One word of warning though - I don't know what prompted me to ask but after years of being a loyal customer on this visit I asked the waiting staff if they actually receive the service charge (which on this occasion was very high as we were a group with a large bill) - I was told that no they do not - the owners keep it ! It is a pet hate of mine when greedy restaurant owners keep the service charge and I certainly will never pay service charge here again, if indeed I go back - the Haz on Bishopsgate is as good as here for food, price and atmosphere and unless there are a few changes at Fora I may switch my loyalty.
Giving this a four but mostly due to the service which was really good. The staff were very attentive and didn't hover around the table too much. They were also really nice when I came in even though I was a bit late for my reservation. The starters that we ordered were pretty good - had the calamari, lamb cutlets and haloumi. However, the reason for the 4 star is because half of the meat in my main course seemed a bit under cooked and ended up giving me a bad stomach. I had the special grill which comes with chicken, lamb and beef (I think) but because it was coated in tomato sauce and yoghurt, it was harder to tell whether some of the meat was just really tender or under cooked. I would recommend this place for the service and the ambience (live guitar player which I really enjoyed) but would have to try something else on the menu next time to comment on the food.
Excellent food and very good service. My reservation for a table of 7 (lunchtime) was made through Quandoo, however the restaurant had not received it and we were not booked in. No fuss was made and a table was quickly made available for us. Although no gluten free menu was available, I was given options by the waitress who checked my selection with the chef. The food was well presented and well priced. The atmosphere was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Hi, the food is usually great but your staff needs to learn to deal with special requirements. The only thing I cannot eat are peppers: red, yellow, green. I have expressly asked the waiter if there are any fresh peppers in the side vegetables to the Lamb adana kofta. She's promised to remove/not to put them in. She brought the food with them, placed my plate on my colleague's side; then swapped, then I have pointed out that there are plenty of peppers in my vegetables; she apologized me and took my plate to the kitchen to remove them. But it appeared then that she/chef simply took the pepper bits out and left the same vegetables. My stomach cannot stand the smell of peppers but I was left with the vegetables with a strong smell of peppers. Could not eat them at all. And also felt awkward in front of the colleague.
Incredible food, service, atmosphere & entertainment! Rarely have I had such a fine dining experience as much as I have had in Fora. But everything here was top notch; the starters, main, dessert and wine were all to die for. Wonderful Turkish/Meditteranean cuisine. Returning soon with my parents in tow so they can experience Fora for themselves.
Excellent food, service, ambience & entertainment as per usual. I visit Fora about twice a year on average and it's the one restaurant in London I always take visiting friends and family to; they always enjoy the experience. The falafel is incredible, the mains are tasty and generous and the baklava is to die for!
