Gastronomica is synonymous in London with premium Italian delicatessen food, founded in 2000 by Marco Vineis and since popping up in markets all over the capital and opening two retail stores, one in Pimlico and here in Wapping. Gastronomica’s reputation is based on its commitment to maintaining close connections between the producer, supplier and restaurants and their chefs. The company supports poorer rural communities, helping get their products to market – Italian mountain cheeses for instance – and promoting the wares of over 20 producers and suppliers by selling over 200 cheeses, hams and other food products. Visit Gastronomica at the point where Garnet Street becomes Wapping High Street and explore the concept for yourself!
It was really good but unfortunately they didn't have the thin round pizzas, but only rectangle ones on focaccia (?) bread - the waiter said it wouldn't be 'that thick' but it was. So if you are looking for the thin Italian crusty pizzas, maybe worth calling in and asking whether they do them that day?
Beautiful food, tastes very authentic, exactly like proper Italian thin crust pizzas! We asked for a vegetarian pizza; they brought us one with courgette, aubergine, tomatoes, pesto and mozzarella! Good service as well! Highly recommend to anyone!
an awesome authentic Italian place with delicious food and wine. Cosy, friendly, great value for money. Feels like you are back to Italy staying in the heart of Wapping. Highly recommend!!!
