It takes a lot for an Indian restaurant in the UK to stand out from the crowd, but we’re happy to report that Barnsley’s Gate of India does just that. How? Well, the recipe is simple, dishes that go beyond the norm of Indian cuisine combined with fantastic service. Indeed, the atmosphere here is relaxed and the dining experience as a whole is casual, and some chef’s specialities include the tetholi, tikka chicken, lamb or duck cooked with tamarind sauce, crushed chilli and spring onion, as well as the chicken xacutti, a highly spiced dish, prepared using plenty of ground coconut. You can find Gate of India on Old Town’s Gawber Road – an evening of wonderful food awaits.
Best curry I’ve had for ages good sized portions and good chunks of chicken tikka. Highly recommend. Steady service but got there in the end. Would definitely go back

I have now been there three times and it has become my favourite Indian restaurant. I haven't been to lots, but I have sampled a fair few around Barnsley and Bradford.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. All together it was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Thank you for a great night.
Great food, well prepared and presented, would recommend this restaurant to any Indian food lovers. The staff are very courteous and helpful. Will go again
Waiters were grumpy and seemed to be in a rush despite the restaurant not being busy. I won’t rush to come back. The food however was nice.
