Scottish weather can make Edinburgh feel a million miles away from the Mediterranean, but Gordon’s Trattoria, located on the Old Town’s High Street, offers diners a little escape to Italy with delicious, authentic cuisine. From freshly-baked pizza to an array of rustic pasta, meat and seafood dishes, the menu at Gordon’s Trattoria’s features traditional favourites, served up in a cosy setting. We recommend trying the lasagne, made from the chef’s nonna’s recipe passed down through generations, or one of the many pizzas, finished off with some tiramisu or gelato. We tried Gordon's Trattoria 3 years ago on our first visit to Edinburgh and we were very impressed with all aspects of the restaurant. Excellent Italian food freshly prepared in front of the customer, a small and friendly restaurant. We returned to the city a couple of weeks ago and visited the restaurant on our first evening and again enjoyed a first class meal backed up with efficient friendly service.
Was expecting more of a restaurant but it felt like a cafe. The service however was excellent and the food just as good. The staff were very friendly and I could see why it was a busy place. There was a queue waiting to get in as we left. I would recommend this place and return myself.
