The global Grilla House brand of Mediterranean charcoal-grilled cuisine has landed in Melbourne. Found along Lygon Street in Carlton, Grilla House offers a superb range of entrees, main courses, specialty seafood and a long list of drinks, including a selection of European wines that are perfect matches for the German-style grilled dishes on offer. Already established in the US and Canada, Grilla House’s clean-lined restaurants quickly become neighbourhood fixtures – if you’re in the area and you want to get your grill on, book a table now.
Grilla House’s specialties are, as the name suggests, charcoal-grilled dishes that take particular inspiration from the states fringing the Mediterranean. Here you can find the grilled goodness typical of Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisines, Central European specialties, Italian pasta dishes, wraps, salads and desserts. Grilla House’s Lygon Street premises in Melbourne’s Carlton are also a great place to drop by for a burger and a drink, with a long list of beer, spirits, cocktails and more culminating in a great selection of European wines.
Grilla House’s Grilla Burger is something of a signature here at this Carlton grillhouse, a fat stack consisting of a premium beef patty grilled to perfection on the Mediterranean-style charcoal grill, egg, cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, mustard, aioli and tomato sauce. A better works burger you’ll be hard pressed to find in Melbourne. Grab a Japanese Asahi or Italian Menabrea beer for a well-rounded chow-down. There’s a great selection of cocktails and aperitifs on offer at Grilla House, too – grab a Campari or a Cinzano, or the strawberry-and-bourbon-based Chizz-Chizz while you wind up to the main event: MSA-graded ribeye steak, lamb and pork cutlets, kafta and shish kebabs, souvlaki, or the full mixed grill sampler.
Food was sensational. Had the homemade dips, lamb cutlets and chocolate banana pizza. Red wine was lovely. Could not fault the service. Great location. Will definitely go back.
The food was great, good size servings, we had 3 courses and each delicious. It took a little while to take our orders, but otherwise very good.
Well cooked meals under a balmy leafy Lygon Street. Amateur service, but friendly and obliging. Tables seemed stark and uninviting. A good dinner out with a BBQ flavour.
