About The Groove Train - Geelong
It’s without any wonder that Groove Train has become the household name that it is today. After all, the restaurant has been serving up the same high-quality international specialties since its opening back in Melbourne during 1998. In beautiful Geelong, just moments from Corio Bay, Groove Train offers up some of the finest international cuisine in a spacious modern environment. This is where the city’s Groovers convene to get their fix, and we think they’re on to something – this is one Geelong establishment that puts nearby restaurants to shame. Found at Westfield Geelong Shopping Centre on Yarra Street, Groove Train is a reliable location for fuelling up after some much-deserved retail therapy.

Groove Train’s been in the game for quite some time now, and it doesn’t look like the restaurant will be calling it quits anytime soon. Something of a legend in Melbourne and throughout eastern Australia, the restaurant continues to serve up its premium international eats, ranging from wood-fired pizzas to Southeast Asian curries. Breakfast is one of the restaurant’s busiest times, thanks to their incredible selection of early-bird eats. Satisfy your sweet tooth with an order of fresh fruit salad or French toast (with icing sugar, maple syrup and cinnamon), or go savoury with the High Riser omelette – choose four fillings from options like smoked ham, bacon, Danish feta, mushrooms, chorizo, capsicum and several others – and the baked beans on sourdough toast. Energise yourself by ordering a cup or two of Groove Train’s very own coffee blend, Groove Press, which contains hints of milk chocolate and honey flavours. The Geelong outlet at Westfield Geelong Shopping Centre (on Yarra Street) features a children’s menu, too, so bring along the kiddies for a tasty breakfast.
Whether you’re having a pit stop from shopping all day at Westfield Geelong Shopping Centre or you’re on a day trip from Melbourne, Groove Train’s Geelong outlet has just the flavours you’re after. Big appetites have plenty of options here – the Moroccan lamb ragout with saffron rice, the 350g char-grilled rib eye steak, the fettucine carbonara or the spaghetti alla Groove, complete with chicken, spring onion, cream, basil pesto, Napoli sauce and avocado. Vegetarians love the restaurant's many meat-free items, including the veggie wok-fried Hokkien noodles, the delicious veggie burger and the polenta & roasted vegetable stack. There are plenty of fantastic desserts to go around, but don’t take our word for it – reserve a table and see for yourself.
Good food, service and ambience. Easy parking nearby and family time at the Westfield. Prices Medium and menu for all. Good choice of drinks and accepts entertainment vouchers.
The Groove Train , Great quality food . Fast and friendly service and good prices. Will be returning to this restaurant . Great friendly service
Food, drinks, atmosphere and staff were great, would happily attend there again for a night out. Nothing I can fault. Would recommend if looking for a nice casual night out.
We had a great experience at The Groove Train, the food and the customer service was excellent highly recommend it and we will return again.
The staff at the Groove Train Geelong were so friendly and able to wait patiently for my boyfriend and i to choose what we wanted and able to tell us sizing for the sandwhiches. Great Work Staff ! :) looking forward to coming there again, and its all spaced out. There was children last night and the staff brang a drink over to a table which was in a fun childrens cup ! high five to Geelong Groove Train.
Food was great and of a generous size. Had to wait too long after sitting to be asked if we wanted drinks. We called a waitress over and by that stage we were ready to order as well. It was busy for mothers day but another 1 or 2 staff would've helped things run more smoothly.
Always friendly service. Casual dining. Big space, so if it's busy it can be a little noisy, but Groove Train can easily cater for couples, family groups & large parties. Super-efficient service; we asked them to slow it down for us so we could savour our evening. Extensive menu. One of our favourite places.
We were a bit disappointed that it took 20 minutes to be served and the food took a while to come out, but it was very busy this night and you guys are usually really good and we love coming there so we are still regulars and will continue to eat there. We could see it was busy. Ps. The chocolate Calzone was amazing!!!
I liked the service and food in Groove Train. I definitely can recommend to my friends. It's little but expensive but that's ok if we are getting better food and good service.
The Thai calamari salad was very disappointing. The calamari was cooked beautifully but the supposedly Thai style slaw with "special " thai dressing was poor. It was basically a pile of red and green chunky sliced cabbage, 3 slices of cucumber, two mint leaves and very tasteless.
Food was good and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Service could have been a bit quicker as it was not a busy night. Waited 15 minutes for 3 drinks
Food was great service was a little slow 45 minutes for service food was worth it though staff were nice nice setting pretty quiet for a Tuesday night
Food and service was quick and great! But I had a sore back from the booths being too far away from the table. Definitely will be going again
Great day out for mothers day. Service was great could not have asked for anything more. Food was perfect and everyone enjoyed themselves. Would definitely come back.
Quick and friendly service. Everyone was with their meals- have been here a few times before and have always been the case- would visit again thank you
It was a great experience for the family, very kid friendly. I gave it a 5 out of 6 as the eftpos was out of order.
The Groove Train has very good food with a good range of product that would fit all tastes. We have tried many different menu items over the years with success
The staff were friendly enough and attended us in a timely manner, the food let them down on this visit. We probably wont go again anytime soon.
The service was great. The food was just ok and was very overpriced. Kids eat free Monday to Thursday so that makes up for the money spent.
Waited for nearly an hour for food to arrive. Entree came out with the main meal. Chips were overcooked along with other meals and parmigiana was very overcooked worst I have ever had. Customer service was not great.
