Sure we know what a ristorante is in these enlightened days. But many will be in the dark when it comes to the term enoteca. Well, allow Gustoso Ristorante & Enoteca in London’s Westminster to demonstrate the meaning of both. An enoteca is literally an Italian wine repository, a place where guests can sample and learn about a range of fine wines. With authentic Italian food served up in the welcoming atmosphere of a traditional Italian enoteca, Gustoso’s Willow Place premises are perfect for a drink with friends, a light bistro-style snack, or a full trattoria-style meal.

Westminster’s Gustoso Ristorante & Enoteca is in good company, joining the London Restaurants family alongside trattoria Al Duca and Osteria dell’Angolo. Classic and Italian dishes come together here, presented to guests by staff selected for their knowledge and passion for Italian cuisine and wine. That’s for the best, because Gustoso’s wine list is long, as befits a place billing itself as an enoteca. A huge range of Italian and international wines are represented, with a good many available by the half bottle, which makes this Willow Place trattoria a great place for an after-work drink or aperitif.
As for Gustoso Ristorante & Enoteca’s food, the menu is classically structured according to Italian tradition, but also includes a great selection of stuzzichini, small dishes perfect with drinks. All of Gustoso’s dishes use only fresh and seasonal ingredients, and these variations are reflected in the daily-changing specials that are available both at lunch and dinner time. The warm and welcoming ambience at this Willow Place trattoria, with an open kitchen and stands of wine dotting the dining room, makes Westminster’s Gustoso perfect for private hire. There’s even a separate, intimate dining room that can accommodate up to 16 people. This is as good a spot to sample Italian food and drink enoteca style as you’ll find anywhere in London.
I hosted dinner last night at Gustoso for myself and a Kilburn friend. We both had a delicious time in the absolutely packed room. Service, as always, enchantingly friendly and the food fine and comforting...if my grandmother had been Sardinian this is the kind of lovingly prepared food she would have created in her kitchen. As a bonus--befitting the Enoteca portion of the name-there's a excellent wine list. A neighbourhood gem which is also worth travelling to for out of Pimlico foodies.
Much as I had enjoyed many previous visits to Gustoso, I hadn't eaten there for a while. I was absolutely delighted once again by the warm and friendly atmosphere and the unpretentious but beautifully prepared food. I was hosting lunch for three friends, all of whom know and love Sardinia and they now share my enthusiasm for this truly lovely Pimlico gem. I will definitely be returning many times in 2018.
Excellent food, my friends enjoyed the risotto very much, the squid was excellent. They will be back with some more friends. The wine was nice too.
Couldn't fault the food or service. We had special birthdays in our group and the staff made us feel very special. Will definitely go again if I'm in the area. Everyone was so welcoming.
Situated close to Victoria, in a quiet street behind Westminster Cathedral, Gustoso is a rare haven of calm, especially on a hot summer lunchtime. An intelligently-planned prix fixe two- or three-course menu in addition to the a la carte and wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle, makes it very flexible to suit both the budget and the palate. Service is efficient but not intrusive. An ideal place for lunch with friends.
Gustoso has become a favourite Pimlico restaurant of mine over the past eighteen months, since I was introduced to it by a dear friend who lives in Tachbrook Street nearby. The service is admirable, the food delightful, and the ambience encouraging, if sometimes a little chilly, as a result of the tiled floors. I will return regularly in the months and years to come.
Great. Gorgeous food, good service, friendly staff, good wine. We went as a family of five and arrived before the kitchen was open. We were made welcome and kept well stocked with drinks and breads. The food was good, atmosphere busy. All in all a good evening.
Interesting menu, delicious food (the fish platter is wonderful), generous portions, friendly staff and great service. We were celebrating a birthday and they kindly brought out an extra dessert and candle and helped us sing happy birthday! We had a very enjoyable supper celebration/evening. This is one of our favourite neighbourhood restaurants
Very nice meal. Booked a table for two, but in the end three of us turned up. No problem; very helpful staff. Nice meal, accommodating and helpful staff. All in all, a good experience at a reasonable price (for the centre of London). Will definitely return.
Excellent staff, very understanding about the late arrival of one of our number which delayed ordering our food; very tasty food and good wine list at reasonable prices. Good ambiance and conversation was easy despite large number of other diners. Will definitely return.
