The 5 of us had a fine lunch. We chose from the set menu but one guest was able to have a large portion of one of the starters for her main course. Lambs were "medium" and "medium-well" as requested. Chicken livers particularly good. Everything appropriately hot and nicely garnished. We only had 2 courses each and no alcohol but were treated with entirely polite service throughout.
Fantastic food, great service and reasonable prices would highly recommend to anyone. Went for my mums. Irthday and had ages ranging from 13 to 67 and all very happy
Always an excellent meal with the food beeing consistently good and well presented. The staff are very good and attentive and the restaurant has a good ambiance
Excellent service, food and ambience as always. One of the few restaurants where the tables are a generous size and there is space between them
Took my mum for lunch at The Haven yesterday along with several other family members. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Restaurant decor is lovely - very spacious with high ceilings and very pleasant to be in. The food was excellent and my elderly mum (who can be extremely hard to please food-wise) said her dish of calves liver was the best meal she had ever had in a restaurant; that is a huge compliment coming from someone who is so fussy about food. The rest of us also all enjoyed our meals and we felt the food to be of a much higher standard than other restaurants we have been to. The lunch set menu is extremely good value. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be bringing my mum back there soon.
The service was impeccable, from a lovely meter and greeted to everyone else who treated us beautifully. The menu was varied but it would have been welcoming to see some salad starters (there were two as sides) The food was really delicious, although my salmon a tad overlooked and dry, but with a little help from some olive oil, it I,priced. The one thing I was not happy about was paying £2:50 for filtered water which is from their own kitchen. I have a water filter at home and trust me it's not expensive to use. I don't mind paying for proper bottled water, but this was an insult The toilets are rather horrid. Very old fashioned and in need of modernisation. It's ghastly. The whole area does not fit in with the rest of the restaurant Is an important area which has been neglected. All in all, a pleasant evening
Very disappointed with Haven Bistro & Bar, our table was booked for 6pm, when we arrived at 6pm the restaurant was still setting up for the evening and it feel very much like we were an inconvenience. The restaurant become very noisy with a xmas party half way through our booking, it would have been appreciated if the waiting staff had advised us of the group booking or the restaurant contacted us before the day of the booking to let us know. Whilst service was good, both the starters and main course were luke warm, in all honesty I've had better food elsewhere and do not understand why the Haven receives such good reviews.
THE RESTAURANT ITSELF IS LOVELY - VERY SPACIOUS AND AIRY. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE A FEW ASPECTS THAT WERE NOT UP TO THE USUAL STANDARD. WE WERE THERE FOR SUNDAY LUNCH - FIRSTLY THE BOARD WITH THE SPECIALS WAS AT THE FAR END AND ONE WAS UNABLE TO VIEW SAME DUE TO THE LARGE FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS COVERING SAME - WE WERE NOT TOLD OF SPECIALS - IE SUNDAY ROASTS. AS WE HAD THE TWO LUNCH SET MENU WE DECIDED TO SKIP STARTER AND HAVE A DESERT - THE WAIT WAS JUST UNDER 1 HOUR TO GET THE MAIN COURSE - WE WERE NOT TOLD POTATOES WERE NOT ACCOMPANYING THE CHICKEN WHEN THE ORDER WAS TAKEN SO HAD TO WAIT AGAIN FOR EXTRA VEG. PLEASE NOTE THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT BUSY SO ALL IN ALL IT WAS A BIT OF A LET DOWN.
Four of us. Starters 2 x mushroom risotto, 1 x crispy duck, 1 something else = all very tasty. Main 1 x calf's liver, 2 x duck, 1 x lamb chops= all again well presented and toothsome. Dessert: various, mainly ice-cream = all tasty. Drink = 1 x Champagne @ £45 was a very drinkable and good value for a restaurant champagne.
Once again we had a fantastic afternoon, warmly greeted by Julius and his staff. Both of us had the Sunday roast, mixture of lamb and beef, and it was the best roast I've had since my mum died. House red was a beautiful merlot and tasted better than some expensive wines from other restaurants. Would definately recommend this bistro to everyone.
Nice friendly efficient service, great maitre'd, great food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend the Haven Bistro & Bar. Overall I'd give it a 6. Take your friends and family along.
As usual a very enjoyable experience.Excellent service food and wine. What more can be said other than we will return in due course. One point to me made is that the owner might be more friendly and welcoming bearing in mind we have been patronising the establishment for many years. He might take a lesson from the Maitre "D"who is first class.
Excellent food and service - never been disappointed yet and have been going many years. Grilled halloumi cheese was an excellent starter followed by the roasted cod. The set menu is excellent value and service charge is included in the total price which always pleases me - especially when the service is good! Can and would thoroughly recommend.
Felt like I was being herded along nothing personal when shown to table. Table was nicely laid but far too big for just 6 and we could not have a conversation with anyone other than the person next to us, as noise level was unbearable. Waiters indifferent. Long wait for main course, no apology. When it arrived my sea bass was lacking flavour, potatoes and courgettes were bearly warm. Friends asked for extra chilli but none had been added to pasta dish and prawns were chewy and they thought undercooked. Waiters begrudgingly brought water to the table. All together not a pleasant experience would not return and would not recommend to friends.
Our large birthday group had a great meal at Haven and the staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly as we had 2 elderly wheelchair users with us. The restaurant have their own wheelchair for the use of clients and were very helpful in getting us to and from our cabs. Altogether a very good experience.
Booked online but when we arrived said they had no reservation for us but gave us a table for two. Restaurant was very quiet as it was only 7pm, but had a big party in upstairs room. Had fish soup and goats cheese for starters. Far too much soup as very rich but Both very good. Felt service was very rushed and waitress hovering for us to finish. House red and white wine adequate but not great and quite expensive. Had liver and bacon and salmon fish cake for main. Liver really nice and cooked perfectly but fish cake quite bland. All in all a good meal but nothing exceptional.
First visit and very impressed. We had the set menu for £18 and it was delicious. It wasn't a small portion either, we were very impressed. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We also had a cheeky cocktail and that too was really nice. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning very soon.
in the past we had been to the haven many times and have always been impressed but this time the food wasn't like what we had come to expect. The service was great as usual but like i mentioned the food was missing something. we had salmon fish cake on a bed of spinach to start and it was to cold. my main was lovely but my wife had the fillet steak with mash and creamed spinach which wasn't on the menu so great start for letting her order it but the mash and spinach had obviously had been sat a while under a lamp as it was dry on top. i had pecan pie for dessert which came with a vanilla and berry ice cream and the 2 just didn't go together. on there website it said that they have the same chief so i can't understand why it was so different from our previous visits.
Excellent fare, very well presented by friendly and accommodating staff. It was a pleasure to walk into a pleasant atmosphere and be seated at a table laid with immaculate white linen, serviettes etc. It was my wife's birthday and as she much enjoyed it that was all I desired.
Excellent food and very professional and quite charming service. Good menu of mainly British food well prepared and presented by helpful and knowledgeable staff. There is a set lunch menu as well as a la carte. We had lamb strip and haddock, both of which I'd happily order again
The Haven is smart, food and service good. It is nice to have proper table linen and reasonable space between tables. I have been before, and brought a friend this time. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal and the atmosphere and I expect we will meet up there again.
The restaurant looks bright and airy, and the food is excellent. There is an extensive menu and wine list. The staff are very pleasant. On a busy bank holiday, the service was a little slow, but at the same time, you did not feel any pressure to leave. I can strongly recommend the Haven.
We have visited the Haven several times in the past. Our most recent visit (with high expectations based on previous visits) was somewhat disappointing. The dining room seems to have taken second place in the provision, whereas the bar area has been expanded and clearly attracts drinkers rather than diners. The resident band was not musical and very noisy. Conversation in the dining area was often drowned out by the band. The menu also has lost some of the sparkle from previous visits. Dishes are very standard and lacked imagination.
tasty and wholesome food from a good menu, albeit not overly innovative. Excellent service was provided by pleasant and attentive staff. The restaurant has a pleasnat feel of airiness due to the high ceiling. all in all well worth the visit and make sure you try the sherry trifle - it is so good!
We've been to Haven several times now and it's one of our favourite restaurants. The food and service are always excellent and very reasonably priced. My husband is very fussy with his steaks and this is the one place that gets it right every time.
Lovely evening, restaurant fairly quiet for a Friday evening. Staff helpful and friendly. Plenty of Specials in addition to Al La Carte menu and set menus. Settled for sea bass main course and my friend had linguine with king prawns which was a generous portion. Both lovely. Will definitely be going again soon.
Fantastic restaurant brilliant food and a great Friday night out! Would recommend it to anyone and found that the food was really honestly priced for such great quality. Wasn't rushed and we just took our time and enjoyed ourselves. Will be visiting again
As ever a very good experience.Good atmosphere,if a little noisy for comfort.Very good food as usual.Service very good to start with but slow in taking orders for and serving puddings/coffee. Very good front of house in terms of greeting on arrival by owner and then the new General Manager.
Service in general was attentive. The bread we initially received was dry and a collection of crusts; this was resolved. First course of tomato vine soup was good. Main course: sea bass with green beans courgettes and roast potatoes. Fish, beans & courgettes were well cooked however the potatoes were very dry. No dessert. Coffee was returned because it was cold.
Wonderful service and food was excellent. I had duck starter and liver for main and a lovely surprise which I didn't expect a small cake as it my birthday tomorrow - they know how to make a women feel Special
We were delighted with the meal we had service was as one expects from a restaurant of the Havens reputation sadly my wife found sediment in her red wine but. staff and owner could not have been more apologetic
Wonderful attentive service and very good food. They always make you feel special here. My only slight criticism would be that they don't do water in small bottles and they do tend to load the prices of the wines.
The Haven most definitely needs a re vamp. It is dull and lacks energy. The staff have poor eye contact. The food which was once superb has most definitely in terms of quality and I am guessing the choice cuts of beef and the smoked salmon are inferior. The lighting is too dull! Cheer up The Haven!
From arrival to leaving , the lunch was very enjoyable, Very attentative and friendly staff, we found the Sunday lunch of Roast Beef and alternative Liver and bacon were excellent. . On the whole, an extremely pleasant experience.
We have been dining at the Haven for many years. The food is superb, as is the service. On this visit (Thursday) it was a little quiet so lacked its usual buzz but this did not detract from an excellent meal and an enjoyable evening.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE. PLEASANT AMBIENCE. QUIET FOR A WEEKDAY LUNCHTIME WHICH WAS GOOD. THE LIVER AND BACON WAS EXCELLENT AND MY GUEST VERY MUCH ENJOYED HIS FILLET OF COD. FIRST CLASS AND VERY REASONABLY PRICED
The food and service are excellent - it definitely a place to go for special occasions as they know how to organise this and make you feel special. Book in advance or go early if weekend
I like the Haven and have been going there for many years. The food is of a consistent standard although the duck salad was a bit bland. Last night there was a private party in the bar area that was very noisy until they closed the doors to the restaurant. Would recommend for lunch
A lovely evening all round - atmosphere and service faultless and most delicious food. Everyone was delighted with their food choices whether it was a special or regular menu item. We will certainly be back.
The service as always was fantastic and the food is amazing. I have been going to The Haven for years and I never tire of it it truly is a great place to eat.
Great food and lovely service. Had a lovely evening. The food was tasty, hot and well presented. The staff weee pleasant and willing to help make our experience a great one. Thanks Haven Team
Attentive service, excellent food. Value for money. The Haven has a very good reputation and it deserves it. We wanted a quick meal and we got what we wanted with no compromise on quality.
Four of us had an excellent meal at the Haven recently. The food was excellent and the service was friendly, professional and attentive. The Haven is consistently good and in my opinion one of the best restaurants in the area.
All was great, delicious food, ambience wonderful. The maitre de was very accommodating changing the fish that we wanted from that on the set menu, which was much appreciated.Only shame was that there was no soya milk for my friend.
We have visited this restaurant on many occasions and found the food, service and ambience consistently good. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. A number of our friends living in the north London area are frequent guests there.
Love this place! Food is always fantastic, I had the rib eye steak - cooked to perfection, wine is free flowing and the atmosphere is always relaxed and easy. Service with a smile!
Good venue Good food and flexible when we wanted something different for New Year's Eve menu they obliged. Good staff work hard and warm reception. Very very nice thank you Will Definitely return
We went on a Wednesday night, excellent service, cool surroundings, plenty of choice on menu of delicious dishes. All our requests dealt with promptly and respectfully.Have been using this restaurant for many years and would Definitley recommend.
There were 4 in our group and we all agreed that our meals were superbly tasty and perfectly cooked. We were looked after brilliantly and we are looking forward to going again soon.
Great food and service but unfortunately a couple of very noisy revellers in the bar area spoilt the ambience in the restaurant. Otherwise a good evening and would return but perhaps ask for a table further from the bar.
