Attractively presented vegan food strong on flavour - some lovely wines available by the glass, good coffee & efficient service. Thank you.
Recommended by a non-veg friend, not disappointed. Weekend in Edinburgh, dinner on Friday, wife tasted my haggis & liked it so much we went for lunch on Sunday. Monday we got rolls & shortcake for on the train. It is not often I find such a tempting menu. It was a fun experience (twice) although confused by the Ahnk Morpork toilet facilities approached by tunnels from both venues. Questions: do you plan on opening in Oxford, do you do Deliveroo? See you next time we're in Edinburgh.
Whether vegan, vegetarian or neither, chances are you’ve heard about Hendersons already. Now operating a handful of eateries around the city, Hendersons has been serving Edinburgh delicious food for half a century now. Long before veganism was in and being vegetarian was a buzzword, Hendersons had already perfected food according to their own philosophy: delicious, handmade, satisfying and healthy. That philosophy remains strong today, meaning that their groundbreaking Hendersons Vegan Restaurant on Thistle Street in the New Town isn’t just a trendy vegan joint, but rather a favourite, family-run restaurant where carnivores and others can enjoy seriously good food and a welcoming atmosphere.
The draw of Hendersons Vegan Restaurant is becoming strong far beyond Edinburgh, attracting curious diners from across the UK and the Continent, so it’s best to book ahead if you want a taste for yourself. Perhaps the jewel in the crown is their famous vegan haggis, but Hendersons offer a classy menu that stands alongside most elegant New Town restaurants anyhow, vegetarian or not. The smoked tofu has a complexity akin to a well marbled steak, a Moroccan pomegranate salad is bursting with fresh flavours, moreish marinated olives, quality garlic bread and fine wine make it easy to forget this Thistle Street restaurant is any different from other top eateries in Edinburgh.
