With its panel windows and huddle of cane chairs and wooden tables on the front patio, Il Gusto instantly gives the impression of being a vibrant Italian bistro to anybody strolling along Paddington’s Graven Road. Head inside, sit down to a meal, meet the friendly wait staff and you’ll see that this is much more than an impression – this is the real deal. Il Gusto is very reasonably priced for this busy area of London, so it’s a mystery how they can produce such delicious, authentic Italian food in famously large portions. Start the meal off with Il Gusto’s signature calamari cooked in garlic and white wine and you’re on the right foot, though really you can’t go wrong whatever you choose from the long menu, be it their oven-baked house specialties, homely Italian pastas, authentic gourmet pizzas, delicious sandwiches – or the lot.
Excellent helpful staff, phoned to say i couldnt find the restaurant and they gave me directions and even waited outside in the rain so we could find them. This was a birthday meal for my step son and we all loved the food, we had a 3 course meal and 2 drinks each (there were 3 of us) and the bill was £86 including tip. If in london again would definitely call back again.
We got there at 5:30 and staff were attentive. However later on in the evening it got busy so it was harder to get staff's attention. Food was nice but evening was spoilt by us having to query the bill. We were overcharged for two bottle of wines and charged for double shots of Malibu but we were never asked if we wanted single shot or double when ordering. Very disappointed that bill was not amended or any apology given. For this reason I would not go back if in the Paddington area and in need of a quick pizza.
Touristy but pleasant, big menu, good service. Did not have two of wines listed but overall good experience and good location. Smartest looking of 3 Italians in vicinity .
