If not, you’re in for a treat. These Italian tapas are the perfect solution for groups who like to share dishes or for those who are simply indecisive. Also offering delivery, Il Suggo allows guests to enjoy their amazing specialties from the comfort of home.
You’re certain to feel warm and welcome once you step inside Camden Town’s Il Sugo. Elegant
without being pretentious, this restaurant allows guests to sit back, relax, and fully become part of
the Italian experience. Offering a number of great wines and beverages, guests are encouraged to
relax and let go of their stress.
If you love Italian food already, then you are going to be completely enamoured by the Cichetti, small plates of regional specialties akin to tapas that are on offer at Il Sugo. Try out the Arancini con Mozzarella (rice balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese) or the Pane All’ Aglio (garlic bread) for starters, then move on to one of the main dishes if you’re feeling really hungry. Last but not least, don’t forget about dessert. The tiramisu at Il Sugo in Camden Town is out of this world!
The staff were lovely and the waiter even showed us a few magic tricks. Lobster spaghetti special was amazing! Would definitely visit again soon! Definitely recommend.
with great food and good service but unfortunately a poor wine selection. The atmosphere was relaxed and the waiter attentive. With a good family atmosphere.
Great little place and not too expensive. Quick service and attentive through out. Complimentary drink at end of the meal was a nice touch, thank you.
My husband and I had a lovely meal at il sugo - the best tuna I've ever had - staff were attentive and friendly - would definitely recommend
We visited Il Sugo very early evening and so it was very quiet. The staff we met were very welcoming and friendly. We didn't have the tapas but decided to go for main meal and dessert. I had a sirloin steak and my wife had sea bass in lemon sauce, both served with sautéed potatoes, peas, green beans, carrots and sugar snap peas. A bottle of their basic wine accompanied, which was very pleasant indeed. We both enjoyed it all very much! My wife has the tiramisu, which was not one of the best she's ever had - quite a dry one - I had the lemon and mango sorbet with prosecco which was lovely and refreshing. All in all a good meal.
Il Sugo is a small and friendly Italian restaurant just a few minutes south of Camden Town tube station. It feels less hectic than the main high street and so is a handy spot to meet with friends for a quiet catch-up. The menu is varied with tapas size dishes- useful for a quick light meal- as well as other more substantial dishes of the day, risottos and pizzas. The side salads were basic and not really good value, but the olives, calamari fritti and prawns in seafood sauce were satisfactory. We only had time for a quick meal, which we found adequate but not overwhelming. I would go back and give it a longer go next time!
I was greeted by smiling staff who offered me a choice of table. We chose to sit outside as it was such a hot day. We could tell that this was a genuine Italian restaurant straightaway as the staff spoke Italian. The food was tasty, service was prompt and the whole experience delightful. I had the Gnocchi con Gorgonzola and my friend the Seafood Platter and we were both impressed. My dessert was ice cream with prosecco poured over it (at the table)......delicious! We will return
We were eating early before moving on so to start with we were the only 2 people there. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. We had the fried calamari and garlic cheese bread for starters followed by seafood risotto and chicken in mushroom & white wine sauce. Very yummy! The desserts are home made, I had tiramisu and my wife had mango and vanilla ice cream. This is our second visit and would certainly go again
Based upon the other reviews of the restaurant, I had higher expectations than what we actually experienced. The pricing is good but the food was average. I asked for prawns to be added to my penne and when the dish arrived, the prawns had their heads and shell still on. I understand about leaving the heads on but when prawns are covered in a sauce, it makes it very messy to remove the shells. My husband had the carbonara and he said it was lacking in flavour. So, it's a good place for an average meal at a good price but not a place to go for a special night out.
Probably the best thing about Il Sugo is the price - it's very reasonable (especially with the Taste Card, although that doesn't apply to the tapas menu). The food was decent, without being outstanding, but I guess you get what you pay for. Service was excellent, however. Highly recommended for a cheap, no frills meal.
