Terrible singer spoiled the atmosphere Otherwise a very nice evening

The food here was off the planet like nothing I've tasted before the staff and management were first class and couldn't do enough for us fine dining means fine pricing but make no mistake we will be visiting again thank you all so much for a tasty evening of fine food look forward to the next time

Food was 1st class as usual. But had I known there was live music I would not have booked as I was with friends and we had to shout at one another to make ourselves heard! Also we were charged heavily for non-alcoholic beer, on which no tax is payable and for which half a dozen can be bought in the shops for less than 75p. It's outrageous that those responsible enough to drink non-alcoholic beverage because they're driving should be penalised in this way.

Superb food, nice atmosphere and good service. This is the second time we have been for the mid week set menu as it is very good value. However, on neither occasion were we given the set menu, only the A La Carte and have had to ask for the set menu!

We were welcomed very well and seated. Soon we were presented with drinks menu. Good choice of Alcolic n non alcoholic drinks. The Pineapple, ginger mocktail and Mango Lassi were very good. But we were diappointed with the starters n mains. There was only one choice for vegetarian starter (alloo tikki which was ok but not enough chutney) and Mains (Malawi Kofta which wasn't great- curry ok but kofta was dry n tasteless). Chicken tikka triangle was ok btu again not enough chutneys. Seek kebab was ok. Mains, Nariyal Ghost was good but Tandoori chicken was too salty and not enough sauce served with it. Indian food like you’ve never tasted before! Simply Amazing! The staff was absolutely fantastic even though the place was teeming with diners and a busy kitchen!

Enjoyed a lunchtime meal, excellent cuisine, at a reasonable price and good portions, house white wine was ok and 4 glasses cost us £21.80 which was acceptable, however, two friends joined us at the end of the meal for a drink, house white wine was ordered, however, upon checking the bill later on during the day I was charged for 4 glasses of Chablis at a cost of £37, very disappointed at having to pay out an extra £15.20. No further comment is necessary, make of it what you will.

This is the best Indian I have eaten,broke the bank but can’t wait to save up and go back and experience it again.Recommend everyone tries it

Authentic excellent Indian food. The mixture of regional varieties is great. The quality of gosht and halibut was very good. On a previous visit the main course prawn was a bit dry. A bit pricey but all round excellent experience.

I have always enjoyed coming to Indian Essence, and always leave with a mouth still full of wonderful flavours. The menu is quite exciting, and I look forward to trying something different on each visit. I brought a couple of friends who had not been before, and they were very pleased to be there, and said they would certainly be back,

Excellent as always. Been there three times now, gets better all the time. A bit on the expensive side but the quality is worth it.

My starter was a little chewy. I had ordered squid rings so wouldn't have them again. The trout and my chocolate fondant desert were delicious. Very good service. Yes, I would return but would choose another starter.

We had a really lovely meal and service. The food was excellent and we were not rushed to vacate our table even though we were the last customers in the restaurant. Thank you, we will return.

Excellent authentic food with a perfect blend of spices without detracting the flavour. Expect no less from Atul Kochar. Brilliant marketing strategy of spreading out of London into Petts wood/Marlow/Amersham.

Had a lovely experience at the Essence of India. Much dearer than normal Indian restaurants but, you get what you pay for. Can't wait to go again.

Excellent food and efficient friendly service. It's not cheap but worth a visit. My only criticism is that the stuffed jalapeños were not that nice and were covered in dough rather than batter!!

Dinner for four in a Saturday night. Restaurant quite busy with a good atmosphere and amdience. Upmarket indian food of excellent quality preparation. Prompt efficient service.

Really enjoyed the evening. Nice atmosphere. Food really lovely and very different from other standard Indian restaurants. Initially found it difficult to choose what to have. Chose th echicken and it was really good. Would definitely go back but not somewhere I would go to on a regular basis - more likely to go for a change. It's also more expensive than the normal Indian meal but still worth it.

Excellent in every respect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that would like a good, top end, alternative to just having a High Street curry. This place is in a different class.

Food is outstanding and service excellent. It's very busy so can be a little noisy, hence not a perfect score, but it's a really fantastic restaurant.

Food was fantastic but, it my be Indian a la cart rest. but you can still over order and stuff yourself full. However if you do order too much, they will happily bag it up to take home which we thought was great! A few little details surprised us - greasy finger marks on my wife's wine glass, and table flowers were passed their sell by date. However that became minor as we tasted the food. Highly recommended by us. We will go back!

Very good with good service. The waiters and staff were attentive to the special dietary needs of our two daughters. The food is excellent. Note: The rating system below I don't feel reflects necessarily what people may be looking for - specifically on the qualify/price and noise lines.

Fabulous food, service and presentation. Will come back. Good midweek set menu, fairly priced for the quality. Great for a special occasion, it was our 36th anniversary. Highly recommended.
