This little gem can be found between Birmingham and Bromsgrove, on the picturesque St Leonard’s Square of the historic town of Clent. Located in a typically ancient local heritage building – 400 years old – Jaipur Cottage is an Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant that has been beloved by locals to the region for a couple of decades. The family itself has been in business since the first wave of Indian cuisine hit Britain in the 60s, so you know that this Church Avenue restaurant is the real deal.
Since 1994, Jaipur Cottage has been quietly dishing up high class Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine to Clent locals, and intrepid curry lovers who come from as far as Birmingham and Bromsgrove to sample what’s on offer. What is on offer is a long list of classic South Asian dishes, prepared using fresh ingredients and spices that are ground on site at Jaipur Cottage’s handsome St Leonard’s Square premises on the corner of Church Avenue. With plenty of vegetarian options available, Jaipur Cottage is a destination for many travelling through this beautiful part of the West Midlands.
A special all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet is a local secret and a popular weekend feast for those who live in Clent. From noon until 3pm on the sabbath, Jaipur Cottage’s venerable premises on the Church Avenue corner of St Leonard’s Square are packed out with families enjoying their unique brand of South Asian cuisine. It’s Jaipur Cottage’s chef’s specials that are particularly sought after by those in the know, and it’s for these that aficionados of West Midlands’ Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine come for, with many taking the time to drive through the countryside from Birmingham and Bromsgrove. A daily chicken or lamb special is usually chalked up on the board, different each day and cooked with the chef’s secret blend of hand-ground spices. Other curious dishes include an Indian-style pasta and Nepalese delicacies. Jaipur Cottage deserves to be more widely known.
Everything about the food, the staff and the service was up-to the usual superbly high standards, the atmosphere on the busy night of New Year's eve was great.
Excellent food as always. Not as busy as it has been in the past but this did not detract from a very good evening. Friendly service and nothing is too much trouble.
A very friendly place with good ambience and excellent Indian / Bangladeshi food. Visited on Saturday night - I had Tandoori king prawn bhuna which was delicious.
Great food and service. We went there for a friends birthday and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was great in this charming cottage. Would definitely go there sgain
This was the first time my wife and I have visited this restaurant in Clent. We have experienced many Indian Restaurants over the years but we would like to say Well Done to all the Staff at Jaipur Cottage for making this first visit such a fantastic evening. The food was excellent, all the staff were well presented and very accommodating. We are looking forward to our next visit hopefully very soon. We are looking forward to trying many more of your wonderful dishes on the menu. Once again a big thank you for the excellent service and excellent food.
Once again it was a pleasure to come to Jaipur Cottage. This time our son came with us for the first time and was very impressed with the whole of the dining experience and has said he is looking forward to his next visit to this lovely restaurant. Many thanks to the staff for the excellent food and fantastic service. Well done!
Compliments to all staff at Jaipur Cottage for another well presented dining experience. My husband and I decided to try the Vegatable Masala and asked the waiter if would could have it extra hot and spicy. The staff are very accommodating and once again our meal was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.
We used to go to the Jaipur Cottage many years ago, but due to personal circumstance have not been for some time. We were very impressed that the staff remembered us. The Sunday buffet was excellent, well served and presented. We shall certainly return in the near future.
A return visit after some years following a return to the area. Being of a certain age pleased to see that the decor and ambience of the restaurant had not been given over to the commonplace comtemporary look which has destroyed the character of so many establishments. Good choice of menu and food arrived in timely, not hurried manner, by obviously experienced and very courteous waiting staff. Food itself was excellent and very much enjoyed!! I cannot recommend this place to all as I am left to wander how, many establishments which claim to serve Bangladeshi cuisine (3 courses fo £10) seem to attact so many customers?
My wife and I enjoyed yet another pleasant evening at Jaipur Cottage, Clent. The food was excellent. Very well presented. The staff were 100% in every way. Once again many thanks for a perfect evening. Looking forward to our next visit.
