More about Jewel of India, Leeds

Jewel of India on Bridge Road in Otley is the domain of Abdul Ghafoor, who will go to any length to ensure that you enjoy the experience. His team use only the best Indian spices and herbs to make the most authentic dishes possible and the success that that has brought has been self-evident. From the day that they opened their doors way back when in 1982 they have grown from strength of strength, resulting in sister restaurants in York, Sheffield and Menston, alongside their location on the outskirts of Leeds. The secret to the formula is not complicated: just great Indian dishes, cooked well and served up in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

The specials on offer at Jewel of India tend towards the spicier end of the scale, so bring your biggest sense of adventure with you. Try their panch rangia, minced chicken or lamb marinated in mixed pickles and packed with chilli and coriander or their lemon chilli, featuring lemons and, well, chillies. The fiery favourites aren’t the only thing of the menu, though. For the milder taste, we’d go for a mirch korma that includes pineapple, lychees, banana and creamed coconut or the chicken tikka passanda, based on almonds and yoghurt and cream. Whatever you go for, you’ll be spoiled for choice at Jewel of India in Otley – so book a table today and make the journey.

Back again to The Jewel of India. There are so many regular customers that return to this place. Pickle tray to start, a mail course with a pint of lager each and that is quite satisfactory for us. Thanks Jewel for the extra poppadoms last night!

Luckily we live 5 minutes walk away from The Jewel, so it is a regular haunt of ours. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. My husband always has the king prawn madras. Absolutely loves it! I try to pick something different every time. Never had a bad meal here yet! See you next month Jewel of India!

Our food was just amazing I ordered the can't decider dish and ended up with far too much but I got it packed up and it was absolutely amazing. In my booking I said it was my mum's birthday and they put up a balloon and banner which was so thoughtful. I highly recommend ordering the sizzling mixed starter

I love this place! Plenty of choice and friendly atmosphere! Had a fantastic lamb main course but I have forgotten which one it was! :-( Won't be long before we are back again, will have to try and remember what I ate last time!

we had a very good experience at the jewel food excellent as always. The only thing I can find fault with is that the raita is a bit on the sweet side for my taste but it would not put me off going back.
