Kismet has a very welcoming atmosphere, with warm candle lighting, wooden booths and a bar with hand-drawn ales, which adds to an already exceptional dining experience. Kismet on Witley Road has been operated by the same family since 1967, and their traditional recipes, wealth of experience and particular specialties have been popular among the Whitley Bay faithful and visitors for generations. Flick through the menu at Kismet and you’ll see that it would take another 50 years to eat your way through everything on offer (a staggering spread including various balti, jalfrezi, tandoori and biryani dishes as well as the full spectrum of classic Indian curries as well as Malayan, Sri Lankan and Singaporean specialties) but we can recommend the Thursday night tapas, Friday night balti degustation and Sunday night 6-course special as good ways to get an introduction, since they give you a little taste of various, delicious dishes.
