More about La Gioconda, London

Passionate about providing North London with authentic Italian cuisine just the way it’s served up back in their home country, the folks over at La Gioconda prepare their traditional dishes with love. With stylish decor and beautifully presented specialities, this unpretentious little restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away in London’s Hornsey district on the High Street. When it comes to pizza, the chefs are old pros and on the restaurant’s long menu you’ll find an abundance of choices, all cooked in the wood-fired oven with a perfectly thin base and sprinkled with lashings of fresh toppings and mozzarella.

We recommend the la gioconda pizza with burrata, mozzarella, porcini mushrooms, Italian sausage and truffle oil when dining at this beloved Hornsey restaurant. La Gioconda also offers up homemade pastas and fresh antipasti if you’re not in the mood for pizza. Finish off your meal with tiramisu or torta cioccolato e pere, a shortcrust pastry filled with chocolate cream and decorated with a half pear and chocolate curls. A popular fixture on Hornsey High Street, booking a table at this North London pizza joint is highly recommended!

Real italian with own stile cooking. I loved the bread (dough) taste, and other food we had, will say excellent runner. It is in my agenda for further bookings.

I would give the full green light, if that means top score for my evening at La Giaconda. We were treated to 1st class service. I am so pleased to have such a great restaurant in the area.

This tiny gem hidden away at the end of Hornsey High Street is an absolute delight. The decor is a little down at heel but we like that because the most important thing is the food. We adore Italy and this place is the closest we have ever got to a genuine taste of Italy. I had delicious home made ravioli with ricotta and spinach and a rocket and parmesan salad. To compliment the meal the owner recommended an excellent red wine which for £20 was excellent. The service was great too and I managed to practice my shaky Italian without causing too much hilarity. Altogether a lovely experience and we have recommended it to everyone we know.

Gliel'abbiamo chiesto in inglese eh ! mica in italiano ). Se apportaste queste modifiche il voto salirebbe molto !

La Gioconda is an absolute gem! The food is incredible with large portion sizes and beautiful flavours which absolutely mimic traditional Italian cooking. The pizzas are the highlight - using good quality ingredients and as the Italians do, are not overloaded with toppings. Service is attentive and friendly - an added bonus!

Quirky, friendly, great food reasonably priced. If you like your restaurants with more style than substance, this isn't the place for you. If you're up for a bit of an adventure, check it out. La Gioconda is a gem in the making.

La Gioconda is Italian food at it's best, fresh ingredients cooked with care and passion and served with smile. If you want to try a new Italian make this the one, you will not regret it. Love this place.

Food really delicious. I had fish soup and sea bass -yum. Party also had beetroot and goats cheese pasta and grilled prawns and pizzas-all went down well. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice ambience. Only little tip is I would ensure cobwebs around wall lights sorted. Don't get me wrong place otherwise clean and would not stop me going back. Other tip -pizzas are really large so unless absolutely ravenous a medium would do most people although they do give you a doggy bag. Definitely worth a visit.
