About La Rueda - Clapham
Dear diners, unfortunately, children may not enter this restaurant after 6pm on Friday or Saturday. If children arrive before 6pm, they may stay until 9:30pm.Please be aware that on Saturdays, groups larger than 10 must order from the set menu.
La Rueda has been wheeling out Spanish food and hot club nights since the mid-1980s from its Clapham High Street premises, for far longer than most in this now-vibrant area of London. La Rueda did tapas before tapas were trendy, and they continue to serve happy guests with fine wine, great cocktails, and unmissable opportunities to dance the night away, including their popular Sunday Latin club nights, perfectly matched with their house paella.

La Rueda’s original outpost along Clapham High Street is still going strong, decades after kickstarting the Latin and Spanish tapas craze in London. Midway between Clapham Common and Clapham North stations, La Rueda offers the area’s best tapas and Spanish cuisine for casual, intimate dining during the week, late-night parties come the weekend, and a great selection of classic and contemporary Spanish wine alongside delicious cocktails. If you’re looking for a great deal on Spanish food south of the river, be sure to check out La Rueda’s early-bird and group dining specials.
La Rueda has been around the block, and with such a wealth of experience when it comes to serving London with superb Spanish cuisine under their belts, it’s no surprise that their menu is as long as it is. It begins with fresh and traditional pescado (fish) dishes, proceeds with authentic Iberian rice and noodles, crosses carnes, and ticks off an incredible number of tapas plates for sharing. There’s a great lunch menu, too, and an affordable three-course party menu for when you book a party at Clapham High Street’s longest standing Spanish. Clapham locals also flock to La Rueda when day turns into night – the weekends here are all about the party.
As good as always! Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere. We were celebrating a birthday, the staff was helpful with te cake! La rueda is definitely the best Spanish restaurant in London
Very tasty food, great service my friends and I had a lovely evening here. We will be back definitive. Thanks for the good service 😋
The best Spanish restaurant in london (I'm Spanish!) Try the paella Valencia and gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns) Yum! Yum! The home made desserts are also good
My family and I always celebrate important events there. The food, drinks and atmosphere is always amazing. I strongly recommend the tapas and especially the paella! My dad said ' It tasted better then the one he had in Spain!'.😍
The food was ok, we had to send both the calamari we ordered back as they were overcooked and cold, the rest was all good. However when we first got there I ordered a bottle of Champagne, when that was finished I asked for another, I noticed when I was pouring a glass that it was Cava and thought that maybe someone else on the table had ordered it. We ordered another 2 bottles after that. When the bill arrived I saw that we had been charged for 4 bottles of Champagne, when we actually had 1 champagne and 3 Cava. I think they were trying to pull a fast one and hope we didn't notice! I managed to get the bill changed, but beware, check that you get champagne if that's what you order!
Food was absolutely fantastic! Only minor hiccup is that one of the many items we ordered wasn't put through so it had not even started to be cooked by the time we questioned its whereabours. However, we were so full of all the other delicious food that we ordered that we just decided to cancel it. So no harm done. Thanks to all for a wonderful lunch.
There was no problem with our Quandoo reservation. The restaurant has a Spanish feel and atmosphere. We ordered a selection of tapas, 12 between 6 of us. They all arrived very quickly and together, it would have been better if they were spread out a little. All excellent though. Recommended
The food was very good and tasty. We would definitely visit again. It was quite a busy night as it was Christmas party season however when it came to getting the bill, this took quite a bit of time. That was the only disappointment of the evening. Aside from that, we had a great time!
Excellent range of tapas with good portion sizes and plenty of choice of mains for those who want them. Prices were reasonable. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Only negative was that there did not seem to be any rose wine available by the glass.
Great service, amazing food! It was not the first time, and la rueda is always great! This time I took a friend who wanted to try real Spanish food and she was very happy with everything!
great place!!! will come back ... I am Spanish and i can say did not find any difference between this food and home town food, so I did really enjoyed, almost feel like at home.
First time there, staff was friendly and the food was good. The vegetables that come with the main should be more mixed. There were only roast potatoes and green beans. I wanted a medium well done steak and I was given a well done one but tje meat was tender.
Absolutely fantastic, food was great and the service was excellent. I would recommend to anyone. The entertainment was very good. The experience was the best I have had in a long time.
Great food and service, love the cocktails here!! The variety of the Tapas is so good and caters for everyone. A great place to catch up with friends or celebrate an event, will definitely be going back again.
Good timely service. Offered a drink soon after sitting down. Food arrived in a timely manner. We had some tapas to start then steak and paella. All very nice. Bustling atmosphere without loud music. A good experience.
The restaurant had a good atmosphere and great food would go again especially for the seafood paella. As it's very busy service is a bit slow so expect a bit of a wait to be served.
Had a selection of tapas and they were all very tasty and decently priced. Also had sangria - very good, probably one of the nicest I've had in the UK
I've been here many times. Always great food and great service. I highly recommend the lamb cutlets. The house red wine is good too. I'm sure I'll be back soon.
Fantastic food it felt like back home. Excellent wine choice and Spanish beers great service and value for money! Going back there tomorrow for lunch to have a few tapas with friends for my birthday.
A lovely, down-to-earth restaurant, serving authentic Spanish cuisine at a decent price. Lovely atmosphere and good service. I've been several times, and always enjoy the food and the ambiance.
Food was amazing. Great selection on the menu. Nice atmosphere. Staff were very nice and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience in there. Looking forward to going back again.
The food was lovely. The main problem was that the tables are so close together, there's probably 6 inches between them so you feel like you're sat at someone else's table. Because there are so many tables crammed in, when it's fully booked it's extremely loud and you have to shout to be heard!
Amazing, very nice place and good service, helpful, well organised, me and my friends enjoyed this evening. I would recommend la rueda to everyone. Thank you 😊
Great service! Really friendly staff, good food. Good atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Attentive waiters quick service. All in all a great evening with friends or family.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Service was good, would definitely recommend restaurant and would go back with family and friends. Lovely and lively restaurant at affordable prices
Great location in Clapham, very good for a night out with anybody. The steak was amazing, highly recommend. Great atmosphere, shame there's no others around
A very nice restaurant and good quality food, a reasonable price too. A good place to go for that special occasion. Very good overall **
Lovely food, team and atmosphere. I am by the way Spanish, and I also loved the choice of music. I will com back for sure.
Was absolutely amazing, the food was to die for and the staff brilliant. Thank you for an amazing evening, for sure we will be back!
My wifes 40th birthday meal.Great food and atmosphere.Worth every penny.Bit of a dance after, as there is a DJ from about 12am. Would recommend it
Great food, very busy had to wait for drinks a little longer than we liked... Just wished they had some music on while we are But over all nice place
La Rueda, Clapham is an excellent Spanish Tapas restaurant. Portions are generous and the waiters were attentive. Paid slightly more than I expected but I would definitely go back.
Fantastic food and the waiter was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food and atmosphere is fantastic. Planning to go back soon
Great authentic Spanish tapas. Can Get very busy so make sure you book. Try the king prawns. They are delicious. Great sangria too. Will go back
We chose tapas. The food was good, and plentiful. The service was OK. We enjoyed the evening. That's actually all I want to say, thank you.
Good service and great tapas. Very good value for money. Also a very good and inexpensive variety of Spanish wines, specially the red ones! Totally recommendable.
Great service, delicious food, well recommended. It wasn't the first time that ate at this place and once again my family and I were very satisfied.
Christmas night out with the girls - food was good as was the service and lots of dancing afterwards. Great venue for a group night out
The food is lovely and I've been to this place 5 times at least. The main waiter has his moments- sometimes really efficient, and sometimes neglectful. Don't let that put you off.
Great food and atmosphere! Would go again. Was nice to eat at the bar. Good sangria too. Good selection of tapas, nothing I didn't enjoy.
it was a nice atmosphere and lovely food served by a friendly staff . the only thing i dislike was people SMOKING outside which seeped into the main restaurant
Disappointed, no music till 12. Paella we had was too greasy. I won't be teling my friends, and I won't be going again . The prices on the website menu are incorrect... they're more expensive in the restaurant.
Extremely disappointed with the quality of food served, having been told by colleagues it was one of the nicest authentic tapas places. Steer clear as the dishes were microwaved and served within a few minutes of us placing the order, worse calamari I have eaten, the only semi decent dish was the chorizo in red wine.
Great food and a buzzy atmosphere. A mainstay of Clapham that delivers what you expect from a place like this. Would go again if in the area.
The food was really nice, paella was really good the staff was friendly and the place was amazing love all the bottles in the ceiling
Brilliant place and terrific food! By far the best restaurant I have been too!!
The food was fine but the restaurant was full.... We had to change table.... After we stayed for dancing and e we couldn't dance... To many people inside....
Would not recommend. Most staff were miserable. Food was well below a standard I expected, some of which seemed microwaved. Was denied re entry after leaving once eaten and wanting to come back for the music. Was really looking forward to it after eating in what i thought was a sister restaurant on the kings Rd (now closed). Disappointing birthday meal all in all.
the service was really slow and the waiters were rude and not willing to take drink orders at the table. Food was good atmosphere was nice.
Nice vibe, good food.. Poor service from the serving team- had 5/6 being our serving team, and all slow at following instructions on first time.
