La Rusticana’s ideal location in the middle of Edinburgh’s Old Town puts it in the ideal position for a working lunch or a post-shopping treat after indulging a spot of retail therapy on the nearby Princes Street, as well as being great place for enjoying a relaxing evening of wining and dining. Begin with some antipasti like the classic melone rusticana (fresh melon with prawns and marie rose sauce) or some lumache all ‘aglio (snails in a garlic sauce) if you are feeling more adventurous.
Afterwards tuck into a hearty pasta dish, some fresh seafood or meat, or one of La Rusticana’s handmade pizzas, available with a variety of different toppings. With it’s prime location in the New Town of Edinburgh on Hanover Street, La Rusticana is popular with locals as well as visitors to the city. To be sure of guaranteeing a table at this charming Italian restaurant, making a reservation ahead of time is recommended.
A typical rustic Italian with chequered table cloths. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was good, service very quick. Enjoyed my meal very much and would return.
Great selection of food. Lots of great specials too. Pasta starters are my favourite and the pollo a la Rusticana or scampi Provencal. Good wine choices for all price ranges.
Very friendly Italian Restaurant. Brilliant atmosphere. Never eaten off the main menu, only the lunchtime one and have had absolutely no complaints. Great pick-me-up on a lunchtime!
Really great food, nice staff who did what I appreciate and left us mostly alone all night. Really nice restaurant. Good value on food. Highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at La Rusticana, and were well looked after from start to finish. The menu was extensive, providing plenty of choices. I chose Pollo Sofia Loren (chicken with asparagus) and was not disappointed. Truly delicious! I would have liked Torte Amoretto, but it was unavailable. We enjoyed the meal so much , that we returned again before our departure home. This time I had veal in cherry sauce, which was very nice. I was disappointed to find that the same Torte was unavailable, but settled for a chocolate one instead. Can thoroughly recommend this authentic Italian restaurant, for its food, ambience and the attention of waiters.
The decor was a bit tired but the playlist of familiar rat pack crooners soon got me singing along. The service was pleasant, efficient and prompt. Starter of calamari was on the small side but the salad dressing was tasty. The sirloin steak was not the best I've had but the peppercorn sauce made up for it. Toilets were a bit pokey and 80's but clean. Ok for grabbing a bite to eat but not a place to take a date.
Our lunch group always enjoy going to La Rusticana in Hanover Street and today was no exception. Excellent lunch, great service and very good value for money.
Excellent service and the food was delicious - Fresh homemade and authentic recipes. We were there for a friends birthday and they had no issues with us providing our own cake instead of ordering desserts. Would definitely recommend.
A Friendly family run Italian with an extensive menu and popular with locals. The food is good quality and value for money, with good portions and presentation. Can be a little cramped and noisy when busy... due to it's popularity...
Very friendly staff. Lovely food and very reasonably priced for a city centre location. One of our group who regularly travels there said, it feels like you were having lunch in Italy!! 👍
Very friendly atmosphere and the staff there couldn't be nicer. The food was absolutely delicious and there was such a wide variety to choose from and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Went on a busy Saturday evening, Lovely food, very nice staff, good value for money, good choice on the menu. Very welcoming would go again when we come back to Edinburgh.
Excellent menu, something to suit everyone. Definitely the best Italian food my partner and I have had before. Very well priced aswell. Will definetly be back next time in edinburgh
Very friendly staff, authentic Italian. Great food and excellent choice of menu Service was excellent and prices were very competitive Would definitely go back when we are next in Edinburgh
Great service, friendly. Food is terrific here and it is a very relaxing place, no one hurrying you to finish up. I love the decor. Staff always helpful and attentive.
Good family run italian with good food and wine. Good value for money.... around £30 - £40 a head for a 3-course meal inc. Wine. Can be quite busy and a little tight around the tables.
Great night! Party of 10. Food beautiful and service great. Staff attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere too. Would not hesitate to book again. Will definitely be back
Fantastic meal, food was delicious. All topped off with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Reasonably priced as well and the restaurant is in a great central location.
Regular visitor. Friendly efficient service and the food is great. I would recommend this restaurant as we have never been disappointed. Look forward to going back
An excellent restaurant serving excellent food from a very comprehensive menu. The staff were knowledgable and very attentive when needed. Will definitely eat there again when back in Edinburgh.
Very good food and nice option for Italian food lovers in Edinburgh city center. Definitely recommend to try at least once if you are around new town.
A simple, charming, family run Italian restaurant. The owners give a warm welcome and they deliver good food. Lots of regulars which is nice to see.
Friendly helpful staff - nice ambiance. Good varied menu , particularly liked the calzone pizza - one of the best I've tasted. Will go again
Had avocado and prawn starter which was nice followed by a very Tasty pizza with a nice thin base. The service was good too, recommend
Centrally located. Can take a large party which is what we needed- at last minute too! Extensive menu with choices for everyone. A good night.
Hi, it would seem all the pizza orders comments were similar. The bases were very difficult to cut throu and the fillings were very sparse - lacking in contents! The pasta dishes were all fine/ok and Calzone likewise. Cheers, Alan.
Food and wine good as well as service. Good choice of menu. Could do with a little refurb perhaps. Background music to my taste - enjoyable afternoon
The food was great but the service left a lot to be desired ! It was like an episode of faulty towers not sure that I would go back .
Excellent menu and great wines too. Service is attentive but not overbearing. Recommended.
