Atsuko Inoue’s family ran a hotel in Tokyo for many years – and she was inspired at an early age to
join this lineage and pay hommage to her heritage. Only, Atsuko Inoue does it in very exceptional
fashion: Consider that her Lagu Café on Lavender Hill not only offers carefully selected food and
drinks, but also complimentary therapies from massage and reflexeology to Reiki and ostheopathy,
all of course provided by recognized and qualified practitioners. It’s replenishment for mind, body
and soul – and absolutely unique in the City.
Not far from Battersea’s Clapham Junction, Lagu Café offers an array of delicious and healthy foods that will leave you surprised and amazed. Following her childhood dream of opening a Café, Atsuko Inoue puts a very personal and commandable spin on gastronomy, one that already found countless fans among the Battersea residents that quickly came to appreciate the offer of taking some valuable time out and relaxing right in the City.
Lovely venue outstanding Japanese food, rice bowls really good octopus balls that melt in your mouth. Hidden jemmy that needs more people to know it's there!
Great authentic tasty and healthy Japanese food and lovely staff. I recommend the Lagu Special udon soup and prawn dumplings. Both were great. Go, go!
Great chicken karaage with brown rice!! Good service, quiet place, we really enjoyed it! Better for lunch than for diner. We will definitely come back.
Absolutely loved it there! So quiet and relaxing from the chaotic London cafés. Great, accurate service and very nice beverages (and I'm Italian, so quite picky with coffee). Great for some time in a homely environment.
A very nice little local restaurant with good food. Quality wasn't as high as some Japanese restaurants and service was a little slow at times, so overall it felt expensive relative to the quality although not too bad value. Food sometimes tasted better than it looked; chicken kara age didn't look especially appetising but tasted good. Udon noodles in curry with prawn katsu was very good. Wouldn't rush back, but Lagu would certainly 'do the job' if I found myself fancying Japanese!
The staff was consistently very friendly and polite, from my dealings with them over the phone to when we were at the restaurant and were the last ones there! The food was really good, extremely fresh and flavoursome. Not a mainstream Japanese restaurant in that the menu was offering traditional Japanese dishes as opposed to a vast selection of sushi, sashimis and other types of rolls (although all available as part of a dish I think). It was very quiet so great if you fancy an evening out with an intimate vibe but not the best if you want somewhere really lively. I hope to have the opportunity to go back and try more of their menu!
The place is white and bright which I love! I had the curry with the mixture of rice which was fabulous, and I eat a lot but I couldn't finish it. I had the Sencha green tea which came in a delicate glass pot- I love those! As well the matcha latte which was divine! Certainly coming again. I missed out the 6 star rating purely because I dined with a friend and despite not being all that busy I think service was a little slow and I did have to remind someone about my drink I ordered which I tried patiently waiting for. Though, the service is extremely friendly. I would definitely come again :)
The decor was quite quirky and it's a pretty small place, so only a few tables makes it seem busy. The food was tasty. I didn't really enjoy the macha latte, it smelt like pond and tasted a bit better. It was also a little more expensive than I had anticipated and so, I ended spending a fair bit as rice is considered an extra, which i think is cheeky. But overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The staff were lovely and the temperature was nice.
Very pleasant and friendly Japanese staff to take orders. Clean and bright room. Bathroom is very clean. Food - pork cutlets are slightly strong taste for Japanese but maybe it is suitable for non Japanese. Salmon with avocado Don was excellent. Price is reasonable.
Quaint little place with a great feel of hospitality. And the food is fantastic! More of a cafe than a restaurant, but if you are looking for an quiet place for dinner, it's also great.
We went on a saturday and there was not many people. The staff was really nice and the food was served quickly and the flavour amazing. We will probably repeat another time.
I love this cafe. Variety of choices of authentic Japanese cafe style food is beautifully presented, fresh and delicious at reasonable price. The space has bright clean vibe with nice furniture.
Very nice little place, super friendly service. All of our food was very good, although the salmon sashimi could have been fresher (and better trimmed - it had grey edges). We will visit again!
Don't be deceived by the 'cafe' outlook of this lovely restaurant. Delicious Japanese dishes, great service and surprisingly fairly priced. Best kept secret In the heart of Clapham.
The food was fantastic: good ingredients, well made and very fresh. The price was incredibly reasonable about £55 for two people for 3 courses. We will be back.
Very tasty, quite simple food in an elegant space. Only reason not 6 was because portions felt a bit mean compared to prices but certainly not an expensive restaurant and still good value.
Brilliant as usual! The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. The BYOB makes this restaurant really good value as well. All round great experience!
Great bento box which was also good value for the money. The online reservation could not have been easier and while not necessary was nice to have. Definitely going back.
The waitress was so sweet and lovely. Food food. Authentic Japanese atmosphere. We over ordered so don't need much as portions are large. Would go back.
Lovely place and delicious cheesecake, staff was welcoming and very polite, definitely coming back for another cup of coffee and recommending it to my friends
The food was really good, i hope to come back again :) The waitress is gentle and nice, and she explain everything you need! Thanks
Super cute restaurant, the food was spot on and the service fast and polite - will definitely go again soon.
Just brilliant. Great food, lovely staff and BYOB makes it amazing value!
Lovely food. Great place to catch up for a lunch meet up.
