Lal Qila is one of those standby Indian restaurants down Wilmslow Road that Manchester’s legions of South Asian food fanatics head to when their sifting through the myriad options that Rusholme’s famous Curry Mile has to offer. A certifiable classic – there’s another outpost up on Deansgate – Lal Qila’s a la carte menu and set menus are a delight. The menu at La Qila’s Rusholme branch is expansive, with many chicken, meat and vegetarian options, plus special sizzlers, the chef’s recommendations and a unique desni apna-style selection of deeply authentic options. With great set menu deals, the ability to cater to large groups, Lal Qila needs to be in your little red book of the best Indian restaurants in Manchester.
Really good food, poppadoms and dips brought straight to the table when we sat down. The starters and mains were all excellent and each dish was quite different from the others. The only negative was the coffee which was lukewarm and tasteless but we wouldnt let this put us off as we ony ordered it whilst waiting for our taxi.
A friendly and welcoming restaurant at the edge of the city centre. The portions were sensible and the flavours were exquisite. I thought that the meal was exceptional value for such a well placed venue.
A warm welcome to greet you on arrival. Friendly and efficient service and a great meal. The surroundings are relaxing and this is a restaurant to return to.
Excellent on all fronts. Particularly as they made alterations to make my meal vegan. Friendly fast service but not rushed. I've been before I'll go again.
Food was not as expected. Very limited selection of sundries with popaddoms. Starter was better. Main course was also not the best. Chicken Madras with too much sauce and very little chicken. Staff was friendly and helpful but the overall experience was below average when compared with similar restaurants.
