Macellaio RC’s at London’s Exmouth Market offers guests a glimpse into the rich and varied Italian kitchen. Founded by world-renowned restaurateur Roberto Costa, this family of restaurants has spread across Italy and London, where you’ll find three more locations in addition to this one in Clerkenwell. Famous for serving aged beef steaks from Fassona cattle – a special breed raised in a mountainous region close to Genoa – Macellaio prides itself on serving food that’s unbelievably fresh and flavourful. Be sure to try the pissa (the Ligurian precursor to the pizza) while you’re there. It’s an absolute must when dining at Macellaio RC at Exmouth Market.

Great staff ! Super delicious food! I will come back!
in light of COVID, the restaurant was quiet, though did had a number of customers eating outside. For meat lovers who want "simply the best" this is a must place to eat. Please support, COVID cannot win, we all need to support Macallaio .....
Food was amazing, the steak perfectly cooked and very tender. Went for birthday celebrations and gave us cheescake on the house which was also one of the best I ever had! Also sang happy birthday in Italian, which was very nice :) Definitely recommend
After years of working his way up from a dishwasher to becoming the multi-restaurant owner of Macellaio RC, you could say that Roberto Costa’s hard work has certainly paid off. His commitment to sourcing the best ingredients and his love for fresh, home-made food is apparent through the restaurant’s menu selection. At Macellaio RC at London’s Exmouth Market, you’ll be met with a menu of insanely fresh food. There’s even an in-house Ligurian bakery and a butchery that you can observe in action from the comfort of your table – needless to say, the aromas wafting around the restaurant are a treat on their own.
Whether you opt for a few small plates, go for a main course or decide on a set menu, the food offering at Macellaio RC’s Exmouth Market location in London’s Clerkenwell will not let you down. We like the rump steak with pears and Modena balsamic vinegar, the pasta trenette with homemade Ligurian pesto and the Sicilian tuna steak served crusted with breadcrumbs, garlic and parsley. There’s a lot more where that came from, but you’ll have to stop in for yourself to see. Do the smart thing and book your table in advance.
