Italian dining in London doesn’t get much better than Macellaio RC South Kensington. This wonderful restaurant on Old Brompton Road is one of four restaurants in the Macellaio RC family across London and the passion of the folk who run it is clear to see in every detail. Everything from the olives to the steaks is sourced with respect, prepared with love and expertly cooked – outstanding Italian cooking by all accounts. Macellaio RC South Kensington is a contemporary space and one that’s suitable for all sorts of occasions. If you want to be reminded what eating out is all about, a reservation and a meal here is essential.
Macellaio RC South Kensington paints quite the picture. A picture of harmony between farmers, growers, butchers and restaurants. Every steak served at Macellaio RC South Kensington – and indeed the other three Macellaio RC Italian restaurants across London – comes from the Fassona cattle breed in mountain valleys north of Genoa; every cut of meat is hung for the right amount of time and even the pissa (not pizza) dough is allowed to rise for 90 hours. All of this combines with fantastic service and a gorgeous setting to provide one of the truest Italian trattoria experiences within miles of Old Brompton Road. Macellaio RC South Kensington is just divine.
The menu at this South Kensington Italian restaurant is all about quality over quantity, which we just love. Begin, perhaps, with a starter of bone marrow or the carpaccio served simply with extra virgin oil, sea salt and black pepper. Consider a cheese or charcuterie board after that, followed by a main from the grill – maybe rabbit with white wine and garlic or rump steak with gorgonzola and walnuts? – or an indulgent pasta dish. You’ll find Macellaio RC South Kensington between South Kensington and Gloucester Road Underground stations, not far from all sorts of attractions that make this part of London so famous. The service, meat and dessert were just perfect, and for a very abordable price! Would definitly recommand this place to everyone!. . . . .
Amazing atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food! Honestly, the best T-bone steak I’ve ever tried! Definitely recommending it to you guys and will definitely repeat this experience.
Great food, great atmosphere and kind stuff. As the name of the restaurant suggests, meat is their specialty. For sure, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
We had a Fantastic dinner here last week - the food was incredible and reasonably priced and the atmosphere was wonderful. Wine was quite expensive.
Get the Battuta to start, even if you dont like tartare its fantastic. Then get a kilo of Fiorentina (medium rare) to share between 3-4 and a couple of sides with a decent bottle of wine to round off the perfect evening out with friends. Food is always superb, friendly staff, great location and they do a decent cocktail as well.
the skirt steak with the mushrooms side, was very overcooked. Had been put in oven with different cut of meat which was thicker. This resulted in the thicker piece of meat (hanger steak) being cooked perfectly, whereas the skirt steak (being much thinner) was basically burnt. If you ask for Skirt stake, make sure you ask for it medium/medium rare so maybe they don't kill the cut by burning it. However, staff was very friendly and very attentive
Best Fiorentina steaks in London, excellent service, good wines, not the cheapest place but well worth it. When you see the quality of meats on display at the entrance you know you are going to eat well!
Great place! Italian atmosphere with piemontese accent. The soup of the day was good, the Fiorentina perfect, the wine choice ok. Very good italian restaurant, would be successful in Rome too! Hope to come back soon
Excellent steak butchered in front of you to order & beatifully cooked. Very friendly staff. Very, perhaps too, quirky. We were sharing so it would have been nice to be offered plates. Good fun. Good wine list reasonably priced. Would definitely book again
Amazing food and service. Steak was outstanding. Only a couple of points, £10 for some tripe is a bit overpriced and the dessert portion size was a little on the small side for the cost but overall an exceptional meal.
