Small plates of food are all the rage at the moment, so you’ll be delighted to discover that Marabel on Allandale Road specialises in these exquisite bite-sized dishes. These dishes go by the name of cicchetti, which is Italian for small snacks or side dishes, typically served in traditional bàcari in Venice, Italy. So despite being located in Stoneygate, Leicester you’ll get nothing but Mediterranean vibes in this restaurant and wine bar. With everything from pizza to pasta and from meat to seafood, Italian flatbreads and salads on offer, even the fussiest of eaters will find something enticing on the menu at Marabel.
Drinks were good but the menu was not really very finessed. Service wasn't the best but manager was helpful. Quite pricey for what you get.
Great food, great selection of wine (and good knowledge of wine from staff) and good service.
Had to wait over an hour for the food to come to us and when it came out, half of it was cold. No manager on sight, 3 waitresses only, horrendous service, will not be eating there again.
Authentic Italian grub around Leicester really doesn’t get much better than Marabel on Allandale Road in Stoneygate. Priding themselves in serving up excellent Italian small plates called cicchetti, the menu at Marabel encompasses all that is good about Mediterranean food – good seasoning, lots of olive oil, a sprinkle or two of chilli, and bucketloads of garlic. Choose from creamy pasta dishes, seafood risottos, crispy slow-roasted pork belly dishes, fillet steaks with balsamic glaze, and so much more, with lots of vegetarian options to boot! Plus, the beauty of small plates is that you’re completely justified in ordering more than a few things off the menu, so you can get a real taste of Marabel’s fantastic Italian offerings.
If you’re heading out for dinner at Marabel in Stoneygate, Leicester we highly recommend kicking off your meal in style with an Aperol Spritz or two. For starters, ensure you try their crispy fried gnocchi with a fiery tomato dip and lashings of freshly shaved parmesan. For mains, a selection of cicchetti is the only way to go with the wild mushroom arancini (stuffed rice balls coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried) and a smooth carbonara with linguine and crispy pancetta are amongst some of the best on the menu. Oh, we’re drooling at the mere thought of it. You’d better book a table at Marabel immediately!
