Marlowe's Restaurant

We dropped in for a meal before going back I the theatre which is little more than 100 yards around the corner. Friendly staff, warm ambience and great food. We’ll be back.

I believe I have got food poisoning as with in 12 hours sickness and chronic diarrhoea I have not eaten anything else from that meal

With not much time before our Theatre trip, this was a great choice of restaurant. We were served so quickly but this did not detract from the excellent quality of the food! The waiter was so nice even though he was managing single handed in an excellent fashion! Would definitely recommend :-)

Great variety of dishes on the menu, all the food was lovely, as was our waitress Lucy. Great ambience, highly recommended by our party of 7.

Very pleasant staff and good service. The meal was tasty and good value and the portions were of a good size. The venue is perfect for a later visit to the theatre.

Friendly, helpful but not pushy service.Meals were quick and of fab quality- we all had a great time We had a couple of fussier diners with us but their requests were noted and food came as asked- the set evening menu is quite limited for fussier diners being the only reason I scored 5 and not 6

We had a lovely meal in marlowes. Friendly staff very good service. In all a lovely evening. Went there before a night out with friends and family.

The staffs are nice and welcoming, The food is delicous with a affordable price during the lunch time and must try the chocolate fudge cake (hot)

My partner and I visited your restaurant on Friday evening for the first time and were very impressed with the standard of cuisine. It was cooked beautifully, very hot and service was exellent. We would definitely recommend it.

The food was wonderful a good choice at a good price our only complaint would be that there was no draught beer only draught lager.

Lovely staff, attentive and friendly. Food served promptly. Reasonably priced,we had two courses,glass wine and a coffee for £18 each. Food was tasty and hot. Quite cramped and very busy,but no real complaints. Enjoyed and would go again.

Simply terrible food and over priced for what it is ! You can get better quality food from other independent and chain restaurants in the town.

Food excellent, Waiter excellent. Bit rushed as only allowed 2 hours, could have done with 2 1/2 -3 hours. Bit disappointed that there wasn't a cocktail menu so that I could see what was in each one.

The meal was ok. The bill was £36.50 and I had every intention of leaving the change from £40 as a tip but when no change arrived I decided to ask for my change and gave them £1.50. To my way of thinking a tip is discretionary restaurants should not decide to take their own tip. Rant over!!

Lovely lovely staff, great xmas atmosphere! Marlowe's is a good value experience and we enjoyed our visit today. Thanks to everyone for lunch, see you again.

Lovely friendly restaurant, staff were brilliant, dinner was good although my granddaughter had beef skewers which were very small, we were also disappointed with a tiny banoffee pie for pudding, which was very nice but far too small!

Great food really nice selection and everybody’s food came out at the same time which was nice as we was a party of 12 Friendly staff always polite and willing to help Loved the Christmas decor, Will definitely be returning

Great meal, lovely staff and although the menu has changed a lot since we went there last, we really enjoyed our meal. The set menu is good value too, whilst having a varied choice.

Once again and enjoyable meal before a visit to the Marlowe theatre. Never had a bad meal and the service is always very good. Will be back that's for sure.

Beautifully presented food which was well cooked and we found the service efficient and friendly. Perhaps the interior is a little old-fashioned but it has its own charm

Lovely food and service, set menu is definitely worth returning for. A slightly better atmosphere would get it a 6 but overall a good meal.

Excellent service, atmosphere good, wine very drinkable, main course of the sea bass was good , panacotta was disappointing. Staff friendly without being intrusive. Will visit again.

Was disappointed as we didn't know the restaurant was under new management . There was little atmosphere unlike previously. My meal was average and in actual fact I had a very upset stomach during a theatre performance afterwards.I won't be recommending this restaurant and won't visit again.

Lovely waitress but food not good at all. Although they did prepare my daughter's main course again (and it was fine second time around). And they didn't charge us for the two dreadful burgers. Some of the other meals looked ok - maybe we were just unlucky...

Sunday lunch was lovely. We all ate off the set menu and all the food was really good. They made changes when requested. Good service at the right speed. There were seven of us and we had a comfortable table with enough room.

The place had lovely food with good range on the menu. The staff were friendly and polite and made you feel welcome. Made our special day very good. A wonderful building.

The food was lovely and great value for money, the staff were friendly and very helpful. We weren't rushed at all and will definitely be back in the near future.

Went in a party of six, shown to our table and drinks ordered and served quite quickly 3 of us ordered the garlic mushrooms starter, but none of us could taste any garlic when eating it. The pork belly and crushed new potatoes main was very tasty, plenty of potatoes but could have done with a vegetable as well, such as runner beans. The friends who ordered sea bass were happy with theirs, as well as potatoes they had tomatoes and beans. Our 5 mains were only just lukewarm, but the steak and chips order was hot so guess ours had to wait while that was being cooked. Coffees ordered and arrived promptly. Food overall good value for money, although drinks on the pricey side.

Fantastic setting, with fantastic food and fantastic service!! There really isn't anything to fault this place..... it excels on just about every level...... even the price!!
