More about Masala Twist West End, Glasgow

Situated right in the heart of Glasgow’s buzzing Hillhead area on Byres Road, Masala Twist’s West End outlet brings a bit of excitement to Glasgow’s oversaturated Indian dining scene. Fusing traditional dishes with Scottish produce to create interesting options like mince and tatties curry and haggis pakora, Masala Twist’s menu is full of exciting choices, as well as all of the time-honoured favourites.

Combining Scottish produce like rabbit, venison and grouse with traditional recipes, signature dishes on Masala Twist’s menu include grouse tikka – a Scottish take on the popular Indian recipe. Of course you will also find all of the classic choices – pakora, samosas, biryani and curries, including the hottest curry in Scotland for those who are feeling brave – made from eight different chillis and so spicy that it comes with an age restriction! While Glasgow may be spoiled for choice when it comes to Indian cuisine, Masala Twist’s West End location in Hillhead stands out from the crowd. Booking in advance is recommended!

Took my fiance here for his birthday as he loves Indian food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made a dish my fiance wanted that was not on the menu and the waiter advised me on my choice for my main course as I don't have a lot of experience with Indian food. Everything was delicious and the food was brought quickly. The waiter even gave us free ice cream when he found out it was my fiances birthday. We had such a great time and will be going back for sure.

First time dining at Masala Twist. My good lady and I had Masala Tokri and Fish Pakora between us for starters, which were both delicious (esp. the Fish Pakora!) For mains we enjoyed a Lamb Rogan Josh and a Murgh Jalfrezi with Saffron Rice and a plain naan (which was enormous!) Interspersed with Cobra beer, a most enjoyable evening was had. Portions were more than satisfactory, as we were both stuffed! Service was prompt and polite. Overall, we both had a lovely time and will definitely be returning :)

Nice starter. Waited way too long for main courses although the food tasted nice when it eventually arrived. The staff were friendly and the plus side was a 20% NHS discount. The restaurant was freezing cold as the entrance door leads straight into restaurant. Quite a few customers were cold around us. The toilets are downstairs which are " fire escape" style stairs and quite tricky after a few drinks. We had a 5 o'clock booking and arrived an hour early which was not a problem for them which was good also. 4/6 seems fair as the positives were better than the negative. That said I couldn't stand the cold again so would go back.

Décor looked nice. Ordered 2 Cobras on draught one arrived. Second one appeared had things floating in it - sent it back and it was replaced. Interesting menu. Ordered lamb chops as a starter to share after a wait we were told there was none so ordered kangaroo to share instead. Then they both arrived. Starters including the one we did not want, were okay but not great. Mains were good and we got a large garlic nan which was lovely. We were not offered desert menu it was after 10 and we were last upstairs and got the impression they want to clear upstairs. Bill had the 2 starters on it we could not be bothered arguing.
