Blending the usually opposing flavours of French and Italian cuisine is the crux behind London favourite, Melange. Literally translating to ‘mixed’, this family of restaurants goes above and beyond to create dishes that will have you weak at the knees over the rich, bold yet delicate and enticing flavours gracing its menus. The space in Belsize Park is the latest to join Melange and already has local foodies buzzing over its take on rustic French and Italian fare, impeccable service and chic interior. Located on Haverstock Hill, this is one restaurant you really don’t want to miss.
Whether you’re in for a contemporary take on rustic French and Italian fare, or after one of Melange’s specialty prosecco cocktails, it’s safe to say you’ll be in for one of the best dining experiences in London. If a tipple is what you’re after, what’s better than sipping on a refreshing raspberry bellini made with lime juice, raspberries and prosecco, or an Italian Waiter made with limoncello, fresh basil and topped with prosecco? Or, if you’re a spice lover, Melange in Belsize Park also creates a particularly enticing if you dare cocktail with chilli, apple juice, vodka, lime and, of course, prosecco.
What about the food though? Well, as we said, this Belsize Park restaurant specialises in French and Italian rustic-style dishes. So, expect starters like scallops with sauce vierge served with crispy prosciutto, antipasti platters brimming with fresh cold cuts and cheeses and Mediterranean garlic tiger prawns. Then, for the main event, feast on a delicious steak with béarnaise sauce; seafood linguine; roasted pork belly or paccheri with fresh truffles. Sound tempting? We think so, too. So for all this and so much more, pay Melange in Belsize Park a visit. This London restaurant is located on Haverstock Hill and does tend to fill up, so be sure to reserve a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Lovely evening. Super staff, great food and an excellent jazz duo (singer and guitarist) Nell Greco and Harry Diplock, creating a relaxed atmosphere with music you could choose to listen to, but didn’t impose.
Great new restaurant - food was tasty and staff very welcoming. My cassoulet was perfect for a cold winter's evening and the rest of the party also enjoyed their food.
Brilliant food well priced. Good atmosphere. Prawn starter is fantastic value - really fantastic Decent selection of wines if a bit over priced. Nice service . Definitely go again- soon!
This restaurant never fails to please. No matter how many friends I take from the Royal Free Hospital, they all enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the great service. A little restaurant with a very big heart! Thank you for yet another wonderful evening. Victoria
30th December 2017= leisurely lunch, good service, relaxing atmosphere but did not enjoy this main menu food as much as that on the one, two or three course fixed price menus usually available. The bread was tasteless (and toasted, although that was not made clear on the menu). The venison was ultimately rather boring and needed something other than just cabbage to accompany it, but I didn't know that until it came. I had already booked for lunch there next week and I'm hoping the old menu choices will again be available. Previously the soups, beef dishes, pasta and salmon have been excellent so perhaps I just chose badly today. Had this been my first visit, I would not be hurrying to return despite the lovely atmosphere and service, since the food today was not memorable.
My first time at the restaurant and it was disappointing. We were seated upstairs and the bench seats along the wall were most uncomfortable as the table cannot be reached if you sit back. My partner asked me to swap and she also found the chairs to be very uncomfortable too. We had to swap for another. The waitress agreed and said that they had many such complaints about uncomfortable seating. Being Valentines day there was a set menu. On booking I asked if there was a good vegetarian selection for my partner and was assured there was. Sadly, not so. Nearly all the choices were cheese based and un- imaginative. We had to send here starter back as it was cold. She asked for a main course salad as the veggy choice was limited. This again was lacking in imagination. The staff were excellent and I got the feeling that they were struggling with poor back up from the kitchen and the subsequent customers comments. We will give it another try on a regular evening.
V lovely service. Great value for set dinner - had brie and sea trout. Both v good. Trout was impressively fresh. Cocktails were a little amateur, as mine had slice of chilli with seeds and all floating in it! And special wine list - v good, but I ordered 2014 Macon and 2015 was presented to me - a year can make a large difference in a wine, but the girl didn't seem to know what I was querying and I didn't make a fuss as had friend with me. But overall a v good experience.
Really good food, great, and friendly staff and the restaurant has a lovely vibe to it. It was my other half’s birthday and had requested one of the front booths. The restaurant said they would try their best to reserve the table as they don’t usually. When we turned up to the restaurant, they managed to give us the booths that I had requested. Lovely evening, would recommend and would definitely go back again.
Arrived there a few minutes late for our bookings, but that was no problem! Our table was ready and we received a service with a smile! The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious. The scallops were wonderful and the steak delightfully done to medium rare! Our only regret was that we didn't have time(or space!) for a desert. I hear the Creme Caramel is delicious! Will certainly return!
We had a lovely meal on Saturday night - I must say that the creme caramel is truly excellent. Good service - the staff were polite and attentive, the ambiance is nice if a little loud as the evening progressed. Comfy chairs with enough space on the table for everything - which doesn't often happen. Good value for money too! We will be going back to Melange soon.
